Rain coming up from the south seems to become more diffuse and general. Good news to those in Alexandria and parts south that were hammered a couple days ago.

Picked up a nice .42 with that rain that moved through earlier. FFW was pulled around noon. About 3 hours before it was to expire. May be able to get some outdoor activity today. I took a nice bike ride yesterday afternoon. There were tons of ants with wings that ended up on my body. Wonder if they'll still be around.

Sorry to hear about this. That amount of precip would probably do damage over here, too. There's gonna be some holes that didn't get that much. I'm sitting at .87 since the event began. No work tomorrow so may stay up a little longer.

Models are in agreement that beltway DMV won't get more than .5" rain at the most (ending at 4am). Not even an outlier. And, we know all them can't be wrong, lol.

I was supposed to be knee deep in rain for the past 45 mins. Radar showed an orange blob over me. Was really dark, a couple of close Cloud to Ground strikes. But only picked up .03 of liquid. I see some clearing to the west so that may be it. We shall see.

Picked up .85 in about 45 mins. Pretty impressive.

Got more than 1" of water in about 30-45 mins. Enough to have the water come up on my stairwell drain. I want to say I got 1.20" but i didn't check how much elsa gave us last night. about .63, I think.

You may be right on the ductless price. I saw something about them 4-5 years ago and thought great idea! But haven't researched.

I'm like you. I have a unit the cools the downstairs fine, but am supplementing the top with window units. I can take this to another thread, but I am considering 2 a/c units for the top and bottom floors. This would require reduct work, which is high$$$. OR I can do a ductless unit upstairs. I want to say that a ductless unit would be $5K. And reduct work would be around $20K, with the 2 units and new furnace. My main a/c unit is very old and requires new freeon every 2-3 years. So that will go when I do an upgrade. Any thoughts?

I've got a somewhat clay soil backyard area with a lot of crabgrass. What brand fertilizer will keep the crabgrass at bay? And, what time of year to spread it? The crabgrass lives alongside some fescue. Thx.

Was just gonna post this. See some green lighter rain to my left then a yellow/red snake line gets me with some heavy stuff. Pretty crazy.

I mowed my lawn before this rain (pats self on back) but there was a dead animal smell. I looked and didn't see any birds or squirrels. Could it have been dead cicadas? They are protein rich after all. It was generalized and not just in one specific area, too.

One of the models has 7" for DC proper by Saturday morning. Would not be good.

I was on the outer loop of the beltway coming from Potomac exit (cabin john?) to NoVA last night around 10 or 11. Caught a good cell. Pouring. Saw a lot of cars pulled over on the beltway with flashers on. Crossed over the Am. Legion bridge, nary a drop in NoVA.

NWS is in CYA mode. Calling for 1-2" for me. Every time they say "showers" we get dumped.

Overperformed here too. I got 1.08" IMBY. Euro and GFS had .5 and .7 respectively before it got underway.

The reason it's raining today is because March was underperforming by .48 Mother nature got the memo this am. Can't be slacking On a discobs note, I picked up .42 since noon or so.

DCA got 1.68. Euro nailed this one. They called for 1.6 when I checked this am. I'll check my gauge when I get home

When there's a 2 day warm-up around here, 4 days of rain are sure to follow. That's been my experience.
