  1. Must be ski season in New England ! lol
  2. Whistler Blackcomb was like that last time I visited. 5K verts, but the good snow didn't start until you were at the top of your 3rd lift.
  3. Part of Wildcat's staffing issue is probably related to the lack of places to live nearby. I was a ski bum after college for a season at Steamboat. I was living in a house about 15 minutes to the mountain. The house was damaged in a fire due to a faulty safety on the heating system, and we had to leave the house. Nearest place I could find to live was in Oak Creak, about 50 minutes away. That was enough for me to call it quits to my ski bum experience.
  4. Royal Flush is an awesome trail, but it doesn't last long in the spring, it's got a southeasterly exposure and gets blasted by the sun as it gets higher in the sky later in the season.
  5. I have both blower (electric) and a couple of rakes, but use my lawn mower with bag attached to do most of the leaf clean-up. Just run 'em over and dump the bag. Makes good compost.
  6. I remember this back in the 90s. One Vet's day we skied off this lift in the morning, and when the mid station line got too long, we switched to mountain biking off the same lift in the afternoon.
  7. July and August this year were the worst since install in 2016. August was down 15%, and July was down almost 25% over average. March and April were records and May and June were real good months, too. SRECs are in the bank from that great spring, thank you Eversource ratepayers ! lol
  8. This was the issue when I was ski bumming at Steamboat back in 90/91. We lost our shitty farmhouse (I shared with 4 other early 20 somethings) to a furnace fire and the next nearest housing I could come up with mid season was in Oak Creek, 40 miles away. I was driving an old RWD station wagon and the high country roads were always snow covered, and if you went off the road for any reason, you got a ticket. I gave up and came back east before the season was over.
  9. 1.4 " total, currently 51F breezy with misery mist, some leaves down.
  10. If you have an air compressor, it's easy to do yourself. I cut in a fitting on the copper line coming out of the house where I can connect my air compressor line. Takes me about 30 minutes with 10 cfm air compressor to cycle through all 7 zones. Close the valves in the basement, re-teflon tape the fittings and install, ready to go for the spring.
  11. When i had a pool it got closed weekend after labor day. It was a round above ground pool similar to above. This was in Hatfield, no trees within 500 feet, 8 to 10 hours of sun per day. Its just not worth sitting in a cold small pool. Only exception was i kept it open a week longer in 1997, was replacing my roof, and it was hot up there.
  12. about 5.5 here, blue sky showing to the north
  13. Nah, they can drive up to Mass and give us the tax money.
  14. Why are we trying to slow down the arrival of the best sensible weather that New England gets?
  15. It really is a shame that people can't kept posting misinformation without it being challenged.
  16. Visibility is down to a couple of miles at most here is Springfield.
