  1. Always Charlottesville I'm just south of town on my work route in Covesville headed back to Cville , nice sunny and hot..
  2. Very heavy wind driven rain crossing Afton going toward cville... Missed my yard of course by under a mile... Reckon I will have to deal with it again in alittle bit if it holds together - At work riding around cville now..
  3. Yeah it's a bit disheartening to see most of this week's predicted higher rainfall totals to not get much farther NE than the Blacksburg NWS coverage area at the moment....
  4. Our area of Eastern Augusta and northern Waynesboro most certainly needed those 2 storms last evening and they seemed to have also given the southern Shenandoah Nat Park and extreme western Albemarle a good dousing which was as dry as us...
  5. Got home from work & again anxiously checked the rain gauge like so many times before , knowing once again the radar looked kind of good earlier - which usually equates to a few hundredths here.... Literally stunned to see 0.83 By far the most rain since May 18th considering I hadn't come close to 2 inches total since then..
  6. Get home anxiously check rain gauge... 0.03 0.61 monthly total now
  7. They must have sobered up , flood watch canceled for Valley areas.... nice solid rain again Lexington and southern valley solid rain Afton to Charlottesville , but as always basically nothing from Waynesboro to Winchester ...
  8. It's a disaster there, Im not at home - at work in Charlottesville and of course its a deluge but I'm sure there is nothing in the gauge at home... radar this summer when it shows yellows in other areas it's a downpour but when reds pass over my area it's a few hundredths....
  9. Can already see the tendency on radar, a training kind of line forming from Lexington to Afton - with basically nothing 2 miles to the NW of that...
  10. Huh ? A flood watch ? No way somebody in Sterling must be drinking on the job ... Don't they realize northern Waynesboro is the 2nd driest locale east of the Mississippi ? Approaching 70 days now since May 18th with well under 2 inches total precip... Only 0.58 for July... willing to bet nothing really changes this evening...
  11. Thanks ! It will only be a shell of itself when it gets there probably... Over in Cville for work. Where there was some 3 inch totals over here this morning...
  12. 0.16 today 0.50 past week 0.57 monthly
  13. Dam it , so dam close to a shower complex we can smell that rain scent, but it may as well be in Amarillo... Maybe Stormy is getting some rainfall tonight...
  14. Current status of the Moormans River - as it emerges out of the Shenandoah Nat Park in western Albemarle...
  15. Bit early in the year to be loosing leaves...
  16. That radar look isn't matching the ground truth.. While it is damp between Waynesboro and Cville - I'm in Cville on my work route and the pavement under the trees isn't wet .. But I have to go down to near Petersburg in alittle bit - And I'm sure I'll see more rain down there than my yard has seen in more than the last 2 months combined...
  17. 2nd consecutive year we have gone through this, but this year it has been more intense it feels like...
  18. And the result is in --- 0.22 this evening 0.09 last night 0.38 now for the month !
  19. No idea, Currently at work over north of Cville...It was about a quarter inch here and a couple ctg lightening strikes... Nobody is home at the moment to ask..
  20. Yeah I do believe that your backyard and mine these last few years are meant for nothing other than only growing summer cacti....And my backyard may be reaching the point of being too dry to even grow a cactus...
  21. Only joint in Waynesboro that didn't get a good soaking earlier yeah the NW corner yup my yard.... 0.09 brings my monthly total to a pointless 0.16 On the other hand 2 to 3 inches fell in southern Augusta a few miles away which in return will help the South River which will help the Shenandoah a tiny bit...
  22. Sitting at 0.07 for the month Have only had 3 events total since May 18th with more than 0.04 - 0.18 0.28 0.65
  23. What's the local groundwater look like ? It has to be worse than last year..
  24. 0.01 today - Wow will actually get 2 full months since "May 18th " of one of the hottest summers in the last few decades with 1.26 total. Actually amazing and concerning - especially since this area also suffered severe drought for a large portion of last year... I know alot of the conversation on here revolves around the continuation of the big city snow drought along I95, but this prolonged precip drought in the agriculture region of the Valley is more concerning...
  25. We never had a legit shot anywhere along the I81 developing desert..... 0.00 here Will likely remain at 1.25 since May 18 and we were already below normal since the end of January ... And as I type this we get our customary 2 second sprinkle... On the other hand enjoy Wy... spent a night up in Newcastle 3 years ago leaving western South Dakota driving into Montana... Beautiful area..
