We never had a legit shot anywhere along the I81 developing desert..... 0.00 here Will likely remain at 1.25 since May 18 and we were already below normal since the end of January ... And as I type this we get our customary 2 second sprinkle... On the other hand enjoy Wy... spent a night up in Newcastle 3 years ago leaving western South Dakota driving into Montana... Beautiful area..

Yup , likely gonna be a gut punch for most of the driest area , just awful for the dam Valley...
-
I know the feeling, upslope usually spills over enough for me, but 10 miles west toward Staunton not so much... hopefully can get something out of this
-
Brutally awful for the Valley, upcoming miss on top of the miss this afternoon on top of basically every miss since middle of May... I would probably get some of the upslope in my yard from the spill over onto the western slopes which would be nice...

Driving back to my work building just past Pantops mt in Eastern C'ville, there was a bunch of ctg strikes off to the east , some appeared to be holding in place for at least a full second..

I live about 200 yards from the South River in northern Waynesboro, one of the main headwaters of the Shenandoah.. It's certainly way way lower than it normally is ( 1.25 precip last 7 weeks in my yard ) but surprisingly it dosent look as bad as the Rivanna River just over the mts in Albemarle, Charlottesville if you are using any floatation devices you probably are just going in circles... The James River in Eastern Virginia is okay but in Scottsville/ Howardsville in southern Albemarle coming up from Lynchburg - it looks awful, could clearly walk across/through it with no issues, which makes sense I guess since it's headwaters is in the central Valley...

Either way we loose out here in the Valley, I could probably do okay on the ICON since I'm near the western slopes... I might legitimately make it to 2 full months with 1.25 total.. Combined with this heat, wonder if the Shenandoah River could actually become a mere creek this summer or at least set all time records for low stream flow..

Exactly what I am afraid of happening, coastal and piedmont and west of the Apps rain . With sinking air east of the remnants of Beryl centered over the Valley...

Yes it is , somehow someway got almost nothing yesterday, today heavy rain to my SW, moving NE which normally is much better than coming from the W or NW... moving towards my area only to suddenly start falling apart... Since May 18th 6 weeks with just about 1.25

The Valley !!! Picked up 0.02 this morning for a monthly total of 1.01... Williamsburg to Richmond was a true deluge - incredible amount of rainfall.... So frustrating to be in that all afternoon and nothing along I81..
-
Picked the wrong day for us to go to water country Williamsburg - only about 3 - 4 inches of rain...

Looks like birds figured out where a easy meal is at...Memories of growing up with chickens chasing these things around ...

Finished with 0.65 1st legit rain since May 18th Monthly total now at 0.99 Interesting tidbit the front yard is now swarming with green June bugs this morning , had not seen any this year...

Lol - I don't even want to check the old gauge when I get home... Radar has looked nice for the last couple hours.... However the last 2 times it did - 0.04 was the combined total.. Humidity did jack up late this evening so hopefully alittle bit of rain did fall...

What is it about the Valley from Waynesboro/Augusta to Winchester the last several years - Dryness hasn't been much of a problem for the southern valley from Roanoke to Lexington.... This is much worse and dryer than by late June last year..
-
Yeah it like WOW - 0.53 since May 18th - this is starting to look way worse than last year during the growing season and last year was nearly unheard of until November... This years yearly total to date is actually higher than last year - but that is only because of January..
-
Now that was a hot work day.. Don't recall in the past few years drinking that much non alcoholic beverages in one day... A few hours mowing grass on a farm till noon for some side cash - then 8 hours in a delivery vehicle from a certain company without ac to finish out the work day !
-
Beautiful country , spent the night in Newcastle after leaving Mt Rushmore on our 5495 mile circle drive around the country 3 years ago in April.... Wanted to visit Cheyenne but didn't make it - went nw through Montana instead...
-
Tstorm earlier this afternoon looked pretty good on radar passing through Waynesboro - Managed to pick up some very light rain with no accumulation on my dry side of town... Second time in 5 days - based on looking at radar , would have guessed a third to a half of a inch total - nope 0.04
-
0.04 down here , when radar looked like at least 0.25 Was hopeful , but I knew it would be another disappointment when i got home and checked ... Slightly above a half inch in just about a full month ...
-
Just under a half inch since May 18th down here in my backyard in northern edge of Waynesboro, with no legit rain in the near future... We were teetering on the edge of a cliff most of the spring - think we just fell off... I work in Charlottesville, normally it's like a rainforest here compared to my yard 30 miles to the west - but not right now, very very dry here too...
-
Prior to today I had received 0.23 in the past 17 days... 0.24 today.. Radar looked more impressive than actual ground truth down here this evening... We are teetering on the edge but we haven't fallen over just yet... However about 41% of my yearly total so far occurred in January which is definitely concerning..
