Good here. Trees still look the same as last night but we are now hovering between 32-33 with heavy rain. All the roads were icy this morning but we got the day off work so I havent went anywhere.
-
Looks like you live just east of the Arctic Ocean
-
What kind of precip are you getting currently? Whatever it is looks heavy. Buy only about 2-3 hours left before things end for you

We are still only at 26° in Crossville. TWC has our high at 36° with 3-5" of snow. I don't think either one of those things are happening today lol. Maybe the 36° part but if anything falls outta the sky this far east it'll likely be rain, frozen or not.

Fall/Winter Banter - Football, Basketball, Snowball?

Nice! Same here. It does really well on the Plateau as you'd expect. I think everyone up here has cool-season grass of some kind though. Yours looks awesome. I put more seed down this fall and am hopeful it'll look better this year if I can get the weeds under control. -
Going to bed, but our business has given us the day off tomorrow. Seems smart eith most of the roads being completely iced over as of now. Just had our first actual good rain shower come over a few minutes ago. Temperature warmed up a degree to 27 as well. TWC has raised our high temp from 32 all the way to 38 now tomorrow but we'll see. NWS Nashville originally had it around that but actually has us only at 34 now for the high. Good luck to all the Western and Middle forum areas, hopefully it will be a mostly snow event and a good one at that.

I was looking at myforecast.co which is based off some model(s) and it is showing 20" for Monterey now on Wednesday/Thursday lol.

Interesting, we've been having something like this happen in Crossville the past few days (on a much smaller scale). The south facing side of the trees look "normal" while the other side (North facing) are covered in a pretty thick glaze of ice. And then there are random parts that look like the pic above. I don't remember seeing it before though. -
It's 26 now here between Crossville and Monterey. The side road I'm on is now fully iced over which about three hours ago it had mostly just seemed wet. Still no real precip here to speak of other than a steady freezing drizzle.

Was that forecast for you guys or was it expected to be mostly snow at this point?

What kinda grass do you have? I just got a new sprayer in today to put down some preemergent. My lawn was all weeds until the last year or so because they took off the topsoil when they built it. I've worked hard on it the last year or two and it looks a lot better, but still has a fair amount of weeds that I'm trying to improve. A million times better than before though. -
Similar to John here but no power issues luckily. Temperature down to 27 after only topping out of at 29. If the temperatures continue to stay well below advertised like the last few days, tomorrow will be a nightmare here with ice. The grass is even slippery now and we haven't had any real precip other than sprinkles

28 in Crossville, temperature hasn't moved much one way or the other since Midnight. This time yesterday our projected high for today was 37. Now it is 31.
-
27 in Crossville already too. Another night where they are off by several degrees. Hopefully that trend can continue for a couple days.
-
Just like last week's big snow, they will ignore it until it goes away (or gets warmer)
-
Yeah that's the reason and due to a slight mist. Are you in the Cumberland Cove area?
-
Been 28 here in Crossville for the last several hours. High today was supposed to be 39 with a low of 30, but it never got above 31 here. Everything is coated in a glaze of ice currently.
-
30 here. Projected high was 39. I'd say they missed it pretty bad for sure. Not sure if it will make any difference for Monday but hopefully.
-
Yeah we had an ice storm on the 16th of that year too and I thought it was bad at the time, but looking back it was nothing at all compared to the one five days later. You guys are all definitely overdue for a big snow storm out there though and hopefully it'll come soon.
-
Same. And I'm sure the ones that were hoping for a lot of ice would've been wishing otherwise if it had actually happened. We had over an inch here in February 2015 and it was not fun at all. We had to stay in hotels all week in Cookeville and they jacked up the rates since they knew almost everyone in Crossville had no power (and hotels were full in Crossville). Then we got back and had to throw away all our food and had insult added to injury by getting a $450 electric bill somehow despite having no power for a week. Major ice storms are miserable even for winter lovers. Hopefully the storm early next week will overperform for the middle and western areas but be all snow. Whatever falls will stick around for a few days at least.
-
It seems like this storm hasn't put down near as much ice as expected...is that correct?
-
I don't think they ever even issued one here and it was obvious by 11pm that night it was gonna snow for several more hours and we already had a couple inches at that point. Ended up being the biggest snow in 5 years here and was a WWA.
