Temp just fell out here in Kernersville. Front is coming thru. Dropped 6° in minutes. 49° now and windy. My Lord! Down another 8° in just minutes!! 41° now!!

Looking at wind speeds I'd say its right around Bermuda Run on I40 and Huntsville on 421. Comin' in hot! (Er, cold!) Edit - I had a delayed read on my temp gauge in Stuart. Down to 42° now. Dropped 13° in less than 30 minutes.

Yeah, I'm quickly leaning into the doubter camp here looking at the current radar. That freezing line got held up in the mountains just long enough to let the moisture escape. It looked good for a while though. If we get anything frozen I'm starting to think it will be from the banding showing up in TN, maybe swinging thru the piedmont before daybreak. I think I'll get some flakes tonight on camera at the farm in Stuart, just not here in the triad. Edit - front is knocking on the door in Stuart. Just dropped 2° in 10 minutes. Game on.

Local forecast now calling for moderate snow accums at the farm in Stuart, Va. May be working from there on Wednesday! 1,400' elevation can make all the difference on these marginal events.

Say what you will about the models, but once CAD is locked into the forecast, I cant remember the last time CAD underperformed here in the triad. We're in the honey pot here for pingers and ZR.

My yard here in the triad is just mush. And I live on the top of a hill too. Too late in the season for any sun to dry things out. And the rain events, while reasonably spaced, are large events. Cant say I have ever had mud on my shoes after putting up Christmas lights. I would be quite happy with a dry December.

Off topic, but anyone heard from Mack since he moved to IA and should already have at least 2 good snows under his belt?

NWS took rain chances completely out of my forecast in Winston and took my 50% chance of snow showers out of my Stuart VA forecast at the farm. Says sunny on Monday now. Next!

I was starting to anticipate this post. Temps are plummeting nicely across the foothills. I imagine some of the Triad viewing area to the northwest will certainly see a few flakes. But I would be quite surprised to see anything sneak into Winston.

Anything before thanksgiving gets a laugh. After that weenies are in order. Lets get this southern jet fired up asap. I'm liking my chances already! (Laughter is appropriate here)

Severe flooding late morning around the Noda area in downtown CLT. Daughter sent me pics outside of her apartment with multiple cars under water. Sugar Creek was completely out of its banks.

You're definitely gonna be on the high end. Moisture from Eta now enhancing the precip field across central NC and into eastern NC. Here in the Triad this morning I'm seeing flooding in places I've never seen flood before, and deep at that, which tells me there are a lot of clogged drains around in addition to the heavy rains. Still pouring here east of Winston.

Mack did move to Iowa and I hope he stops by the SE forum a few times to share details of his winter with us. I have a feeling he will miss the SC warmups and rue the plains winter.

Hurricane Delta - "Hold my beer and watch this" A little to early to write her / him / it off with a low intensity forecast. If Delta gets through a full ERC and accelerates a bit you could easily be dealing with another deteriorating Cat 4 storm similar to a Katrina. I hate that comparison, but its valid nonetheless.

Ok, that makes sense. I would also wager that average monthly low temp is captured predominantly from the last 5 days of Sept. But even that 46° is a bit surprising to me for the Triad.

In 2020 fashion, here's to hoping the word "glacier" becomes a concern for the mountains this year. Looking forward to some of that excess snow making its way to the foothills. No hoarding up there!

Hello....hello...hello.....Echo.....Echo....Echo.... Seriously, did the SE forum take August off? Fall is almost here folks! Time to spread some lime and fertilizer! Time to ready the plows Frosty! The only member I've seen in days is Burnsie and thats only because he moderated one of my posts over in the Laura thread...thanks Mr Burns. I know its the last few Dog Days, but there is so much great weather just a calendar flip away. It's almost fall.....let's do this!

Can somebody provide a little hope here? Anything showing a short range trend of less than 88° and 88% humidity would be acceptable. I'm headed off to research when the avg summer hi temps start dropping. I think it might be in the next couple of weeks, thank God. At least my annual "leaves off the trees" fall countdown is now down to 13 weeks. Fall will not be denied this year! Edit - August 1st hi/lo is 88/68 for the triad. Daily averages start dropping August 2nd. By August 30th the hi/lo is 83/63. Bring on September!
