Finally got down to 37° after being stuck at almost 40° for a couple hours. Now I feel like we're headed in the right direction. Precip will move into the Triad by 1am. Lets go!

I think Mack moved to Ohio. He can enjoy all those cutters now. I was wondering what happened to Cold Rain. And also Warm Nose.
Mack moved to Iowa. He still posts in that forum. Wouldnt surprise me to see him pop in tomorrow if it snows in SC.

I mean I don’t get it. Some guys post boom then 20 minutes later it’s over. Weird
Imperfect model guidance = irrational exhuberance.
Real time obs = crushed souls

That would be great , just not to encouraged by the latest guidance....
Yeah, my expectations have been reduced to a mulch covering.

This first wave is gonna flip to all snow as it crosses the Va border tonight. Maybe @Buddy1987 @BornAgain13you have some early wins to look forward to.

37 with stars showing for now
Might lead to your jackpot later.

Ugh, I just warmed up a degree in Kernersville. The cold air is parked up at the farm in Stuart about 30 miles north. 34.8° there at 1,400' elevation.

Why does it seem like this first wave is multiple hours ahead of schedule? My forecast, and RAH, is saying snow well into the afternoon tomorrow. Thats a loooong event if the precip shield fills in.

Where are all the snow reports from the mountains? Radar lighting up everywhere out west!
Nevermind...I see all those altitude afflicted folks are too good to come over here and post in the obs thread. They have their own little special drinks and probably even a secret handshake for get togethers.
39.9 in the heart of the Triad. 36 on the farm in Stuart. Progress!

Checkout the Brasstown Bald Snow Invasion live cam in N.Georgia!
Enjoyed watching some whacko on the live cam taking an evening jog through the snow up there! Can't wait. Let's do this Katherine!

7:1
For you north of Danville, yes. But in the central piedmont and as you move down towards CLT no. Even the last guidance from RAH is calling for wet snow with surface temps just above freezing.

I know it will be a heavy wet snow - what are the liquid to snowfall ratios expected?
Without a better cold air source, I'd go 5:1. Chop QPF in half almost everywhere outside the mountains.

The one big snow that i've been through was i think 2000 in Roxboro...i remember the forecasts going into the evening were calling for maybe an inch or two. Then it started snowing...and it didn't stop snowing for 11 hours. We ended up with over a foot and a half IIRC
It has a name........Carolina Crusher. Snuck in like a thief in the night.

You wanna be careful with the RAP because it's really bad that far out in it's run.
Oddly enough, if you take DT's call map and slide it 50-75 miles southwest like I said earlier you end up with what looks like the RAP forecast here. I can easily see this being our outcome.

Me thinks a lot of people will be disappointed when they wake up tomorrow morning and thru out the day.
Sounds to me like you've been reading that special weather book written by some crusty old lifetime North Carolinian called "33 and rain: A story of my life and North Carolina Winter Weather". Most of us have that book on the shelf in these parts and drag it out at least once each year.

CMC still likes the Monday event with some significant accums through the foothills and western piedmont into central VA.

Much better run on the RGEM for N NC and S VA
Jackpotting a foot just south of GSO?? Nice! But the RGEM may be flying solo on this one. Not a lot of support elsewhere.

10.7” for RDU and basically nothing for south wake.
Stuart Va went from 8" on the HRRR to zero on the NAM. Dont want to be on the wrong side of the railroad tracks with this one. Difference between a touchdown and a pick6.

Lol, dont get me started. How about that dry slot, AKA Georgia, that needs to fill in. Hoping the radar looks solid around daybreak.
