  1. Classic sadness at the shore but at least we are good at what we do.
  2. Do I need to explain this stuff again? First of all it's a La Nina and secondly we just had our warmest November on record globally by a lot.
  3. How is the 12z EPS doing? Hearing it's a bit nutty like the operational.
  4. Just too sick. Deep tropical right into the Delaware Capes. Bob'esque
  5. Verbatim the solution would play out like the Vagabond Hurricane (1903) only with a very late recurve near the coast. Pretty much a track never encountered in the modern record. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1903_New_Jersey_hurricane
  6. Good question brother but is way beyond the scope of arctic sea ice discussion. To bring some closure we were already on a bad path with or without global warming.
  7. I would wager there is less to burn per acre? Thoughts? On a positive note the moistening trend should move from West Australia to the deep south going forward.
  8. A.) Why are we not headed towards disaster? B.) Why is global warming a non-threat? Quite the contrary it appears to be a threat multiplier at a time when we are most vulnerable.
  9. Well better get back into the hall and steer this ship away from disaster.
  10. Right but for the wrong reasons. Curtailing overpopulation through personal decisions just serves as palliative care for your posterity at this juncture will not turn our trajectory away from resource overshoot or rather for the more sensible among us - extinction. Have fun whistling past your 2030 graveyard because dieing in 2050 will just be that much better.
  11. All failed movements always end in hate speech and fear-mongering. As well that's how you can weed out the liars from the people operating on good faith.
  12. It's functional enough to feed you but dysfunctional enough to make you miserable. They want to lower the upkeep costs for the slaves and prevent rebellion.
  13. It's just a shame that it has come to this. We couldn't let go of capitalism and even after it's killing people's social mobility and the sustainability of the Earth systems. There is almost zero incentive to keep capitalism around other than it feeds 7 billion people. I think that's why people hold onto capitalism.
  14. Nature is rife with examples of self-destruction. As distasteful as it may be it is only ephemeral.
  15. Exactly but I don't quite see it in the same light. It's a convincing argument but as it stands now humans are not separate from the natural processes.
  16. So true. We live in dire times that demand extreme measures but if you know that global warming will eliminate everything but sub-lethal carbon dioxide emissions by 2050 then there's reason to be complacent. Yes it's a less than ideal situation but we will take what we can get. Geoengineering is the only thing that scares me to be honest. I think Dane Wigington is right on the "money". The difference between me and Dane is that I don't believe there is an active aerosol injection program ongoing. All current aerosol emissions are unintentional. (a byproduct of global industrial civilization)
  17. Such a world setup would of been a reality if either Nazi Germany or the USSR conquered all of Europe. I am with you on this one in that it's non-functional in the long-run. The system of exploitation is inherently tainted. Whatever you wish to call it. Capitalism is a piece of it. Try putting China in charge of the world and see how far you get. You may even collapse faster.
  18. Collapse or grow is where we are now and going forward. You're not understanding that climate change will kill at least 6-7x more people than the holocaust and world wars combined. We are not the "good guys". Not saying there was ever a cohort of good guys. Just various factions looking out for their self-interest.
  19. I am now in damage control mode. This cost was more than I could bear. The green catalpa tree has turned All white; the cherry blooms once more. In one whole year I haven’t learned A blessed thing they pay you for. The blossoms snow down in my hair; The trees and I will soon be bare. The trees have more than I to spare. The sleek, expensive girls I teach, Younger and pinker every year, Bloom gradually out of reach. The pear tree lets its petals drop Like dandruff on a tabletop. The girls have grown so young by now I have to nudge myself to stare. This year they smile and mind me how My teeth are falling with my hair. In thirty years I may not get Younger, shrewder, or out of debt.
