Salvaged a day in Cape Charles, cloud cover and a breeze but no rain. Temps only in the mid sixties so not exactly beachy. It's very dry down here. Not for long!

Hey everyone! Just letting y'all know that my wife and I will be in the area sometime in August until potentially forever because I got the job at the Weather Prediction Center!!!
I AM COMING HOME!!!
Fantastic. This has to be a good omen for winter 23-24 snow totals.

Good thing we booked a house in Cape Charles VA for the weekend! Maybe we'll get tropical storm winds.

Anyone else smell a burning smell, almost like ozone today? Noticed it in my neighborhood this morning.
I noticed it yesterday AM.

10 day forecast looking pretty dry on the globals (and the ensembles).

Agreed. I vividly remember an extremely dark brown smoke haze in either the summer of 2002 or 2003 in Central PA when I was a teenager. Fires in Canada, I think. It was so bad it made the news.- 2

First "hot" feeling morning here this year. Here's to 100 more!

Anyone want to recommend a decent weather station in the $100-$300 range? Looking for rain gauge, wind, UV, the basics.

Got a few sprinkles over the weekend but no substantial rain. Shady areas still have a good deal of soil moisture, but things are drying out as the sun gets stronger. I had planted a few small trees hoping for a rainy spring and I find myself dumping hose water on them---blech.

At least it's breezy?

Another reminder of the Feb 2014 debacle in DC. Changed over maybe 3 am and that was basically it. Maybe 1" of slop on the backend.
That storm was such a drippy disappointment in Takoma Park while folks north frolicked in all snow

At this point I'm not even mad that coastal NE may get rocked this weekend. I have no ability to feel jealousy. I am a broken man.

Buds on my red maple have to be 4-6 weeks ahead of normal schedule?
Cars in my neighborhood have a light dusting of pollen from maples and others today.

Hot in silver spring. Anyone else remember a February day like this in 1998? Or was it 1997.

So we race the clock. Similar to 2018. I’ve been hopeful of a late season window of opportunity but the base state has been so warm I do wonder.
March 22nd, 2018 according to my google photos. McKeldin Mall, UMD College Park. If snow could accumulate then in that part of the UHI, I'm game for it happening again.
