  1. First week of December has southern slider written all over it
  2. Cross polar flow, +PNA, Greenland block…. I’m cautious but the vibes are improving for me
  3. We’ve got our first fantasy storm of the season on the GFS. CAD special and it’s only 384 hrs from verifying
  4. I still have yet to hit freezing, and suddenly next weekends cold shot isn’t looking like a slam dunk to get there either.
  5. 18z GFS brought the goods for the mountains. A long duration NWF event and an App State home game to enjoy every bit of it.
  6. On the bright side, a lot can change but it’s sort of clear what kind of pattern we’re likely looking at. I think it’s so much easier to head into winter with that in mind. Last year felt like a rug pull since we had an El Niño.
  7. There’s a legitimate shot the mower doesn’t go into the garage for good until January.
  8. At a minimum, this will really help with the dust problem in the disaster areas
  9. I was looking back at some of the wind damage from this storm and man. It was such an unusual setup from that standpoint. To have hurricane force gusts region wide in western NC from a gulf storm is something I still can’t wrap my brain around 3 weeks later.
  10. lol. I just put more 20-0-0 on my fescue and bluegrass. I’m afraid I’ll be mowing until Christmas again.
  11. As beautiful as it is, I hate this for folks who’ve lost needed warm clothes, shelter and heat.
  12. I’ve missed this weather so much
  13. I’ve been on the fence with this issue. I think both cases can be true. FEMA is helping but there’s also plenty of reason to say it hasn’t been enough.
  14. Over two weeks later and it’s still surreal to me that this event happened the way it did. I love weather as much as anyone on here but it’s been hard to even look at forecasts the past few weeks. My appetite for appreciable weather has been subdued by this event tremendously.
  15. Per Tampa radar - the eye is about 85% closed now
  16. Honestly didn’t have the stomach to track this one after what I’ve seen since the 27th. Probably a first for me.
  17. Been on the ground in western Watauga County. What many are seeing is just the tip of the iceberg. This damage isn’t catastrophic, it’s biblical. Apocalyptic. God help our region.
  18. This is the most devastating impact imaginable for western NC. Literally our worst fears came to fruition. I’m praying for your family.
  19. Well. the gulf coast dreads the “I” names and I suppose the Carolina’s will forever dread the “H” names.
  20. These mesovorticies are insane. The eye is almost shaped like a triangle.
