On the bright side, a lot can change but it’s sort of clear what kind of pattern we’re likely looking at. I think it’s so much easier to head into winter with that in mind. Last year felt like a rug pull since we had an El Niño.
I was looking back at some of the wind damage from this storm and man. It was such an unusual setup from that standpoint.
To have hurricane force gusts region wide in western NC from a gulf storm is something I still can’t wrap my brain around 3 weeks later.
I’ve been on the fence with this issue. I think both cases can be true. FEMA is helping but there’s also plenty of reason to say it hasn’t been enough.
Over two weeks later and it’s still surreal to me that this event happened the way it did. I love weather as much as anyone on here but it’s been hard to even look at forecasts the past few weeks. My appetite for appreciable weather has been subdued by this event tremendously.
Been on the ground in western Watauga County. What many are seeing is just the tip of the iceberg. This damage isn’t catastrophic, it’s biblical. Apocalyptic. God help our region.
