It might be wishful thinking but maybe the models are playing catch up with limited air craft data chipping in
-
Euro looked like a step in the right direction.
-
*hyperventilates* lets go fellas!!!
-
Models are so frustratingly close to a legit storm for the cad region Tuesday night-Wednesday. Cold Canadian hp funneling air down the apps and a storm signal but alas...it’s too weak and quick moving.
-
A lot of the models seem to have cold air around and some sort of storm signal for sometime next week, and after last year, I guess that’s all we can ask for
-
That solution was lights out through Christmas anywhere west of Charlotte
-
Pretty accurate run when you look at that warm nose changing it all back to rain as it departs
-
If anyone is getting golf clubs for Christmas, you’ll really love the temp outlook for the holiday.
-
Hey, somebody has to throw those of us between 1-2k ft a bone every now and then. Fingers crossed!
-
Kinda surprised Monday’s minor potential hasn’t at least stirred the pot already.
-
Made it up to Boone today. Around three inches from what I saw, but most importantly, a nice steady snowfall the entire time I was there. I miss being at a higher elevation but it makes the snow all that more special when I can make time for a short trip. Enjoy fellas. Fingers crossed that it’s just the start.
-
Good luck fellas. Cash in for all of us lost souls sitting just off the mountains.
-
Love the look for next week. Assuming the foothills can’t squeeze in some climatological luck, I may have to make the short trip up the mountain to get my snow fix.
-
And in all honesty, it’s close to hammering the entire normal climo favored region. Just need that storm to tick a hair closer to the coast. Cold air seems like it’ll be around, as will a storm (somewhere). Can’t ask for much else! Especially after last winter

Wind was very bad in my neck of the woods. Can’t recall conditions that bad in a long time. Many trees down and the winds were strong enough for my neighbor to lose a shutter off the house. Easily gusted 60+ Many times....
-
Just saw a twitter thread regarding this. It looks like those anomaly’s are correct. I think the number of TC’s + a few fronts have helped to size the water temps down a bit. Hopefully a good sign in regards to RI prospects for future storms.
-
Get the tent. You don’t want to stress about little things the day before/day of. And congratulations!
-
Chilly morning and I love it. It’s such a nice change of pace to have a season start on time. I know it’s unrealistic to think that our warm days are done but fingers crossed that maybe the 90s are over (knock on wood).
-
I’d take 100 degree temps for the next 3 months if it meant I could piece together more than 18 hours without rain in western North Carolina.
-
The foothills of western NC have been one of the wettest locations in the United States for the last two years, with nearly every rain storm over performing. Now...with a winter storm on the doorstep, we're finally going to have an under-performer and virtually no qpf LOL.
-
I think the most depressing part of this winter has less to do with the lack of physical storms themselves and more to do with the lack of being able to geek out, track storms, losing sleep for model runs, and watching these threads blow up. Such a deflating season, because most of this board disappears until November. I just hate that the odds of tracking something fun are so low at this point.
-
I’ll get roasted for saying this - and that’s fine, but I wish we’d get at least a minor drought. WNC is becoming Seattle south. We can’t string together more than 2 dry days a week and when it rains, it rains 2+ inches every time. My yard is muck.
-
Tracking fantasy storms is still better than having nothing to watch.
-
2/1 still has potential per 12z GFS. The track is way too far inland, but there is a high in the Maine area and a robust storm cutting across the SE. On the bright side, the storm doesn't cut west of the Apps, which is a change of pace already.
