  1. Heck yeah, always great when you can make good money working while going to school full time.
  2. Gotcha. Glad to hear your son is still doing great things with his gymnastics! That’s awesome that he’s coaching, takes a special person to be able to coach imo.
  3. Yeah that is horrific, feel bad for all those involved. Those accidents with Big Rigs rarely end well, I’ve had my CDL 3 months now and I’ve had to watch some gut wrenching videos in my classes/training.
  4. Awesome, thanks for the breakdown Jax. That layer of ice could make things extra sketchy on the roads. Hope you and the family are doing well!
  5. Hope everyone is ok. It’s been a bad week for car pileups due to winter weather.
  6. Light Snow this morning in Hardeman county. Cars and roofs are all white with a light glaze of snow and you can see it on the grass/ground in spots vaguely. Cold air is really pulling any and all moisture out of the atmosphere the past 2 days. Nothing of any significant accumulation but it’s cool to see such little snow stick so well to surfaces due to the frigid air in place
  7. To put this system into perspective a little bit, and to show how powerful this cold air mass really is. Galveston and Houston Texas are in this winter storm watch. North of the Houston metro they are calling for 1-3 inches. The beaches in Galveston could be snow covered and icy this weekend, that in and of itself is pretty amazing to me.
  8. Winter Storm Watches now In effect for all of west Tn, all of north Mississippi+central and south western Mississippi, literally the ENTIRE state of Arkansas, and nearly the entire state of Texas, and most of north Louisiana. The scope of this event is crazy when you see the national watch/warnings map. Go to weather.gov if you want to see the picture for yourself, it will be the first thing you see once you’re on their website.
  9. Looks like the majority of Arkansas is now in that winter storm watch as well with the exception of far eastern Arkansas at this time.
  10. It’s nice to have good support from the Euro! I know personally I always hope for it to be in our corner/s for any events in our forum wide area. Pretty wide swath of 4inch snow for a lot of the mid south and 2-3 into most of north Mississippi. On a side note-One of these days though I’m gonna have to get Jax to give me a tutorial for the deterministic forecast table, lol.
  11. Had some light snow fall for a little bit at my house also. Not much but you can definitely see it on the cars and stuff.
  12. Thanks for all you do brotha, and I really appreciate you sharing all these maps with us! It doesn’t go unnoticed or unappreciated I assure you!
  13. Thanks, I’m cool with the existing thread for now. If we get to Sunday and things are looking great then we may want to make a new thread just for historical reference since a lot of people like to go back through our winter storm threads for data, learning material, etc.
  14. I will say this, a lot of times the NWS is a few steps behind on their forecasting. I’m in no way saying they aren’t good at what they do. But they’ve proven to be overly conservative more times than not. Weather.com and their forecasting system is always a few steps ahead of NWS, I saw it happen multiple times last week when I was in Des Moines.
  15. We can make a new one or we can integrate into the thread westtnwx made. I’m flexible either way. If westtnwx doesn’t respond by lunch then we can make a new thread though.
  16. I wouldn’t worry much at this point, most of what is modeled to fall would be after 12z Monday so that’s why you’re not seeing it on this map.
  17. At WestTennWX, would you be willing to change the name of this thread so we can integrate the Monday -Tuesday system in it as well?
  18. NWS Memphis taking the threat seriously right now. Looks like winter storm watches have already gone up In southern Oklahoma and north central Texas. Below is what NWS has to say for West Tennessee. WINTER WEATHER TO IMPACT THE MIDSOUTH OVER THE NEXT WEEK... Active winter weather is forecast through next week. Extended Cold temperatures are expected well into next week as several weather systems cause a mixture of winter precipitation, some of which could be significant. Wind chills Sunday and Monday are forecast to fall below zero north of I-40 with single numbers in most other places. Friday night into Saturday light freezing rain/drizzle may cause travel hazards, especially across north Mississippi. There is increasing confidence in a major winter storm later Sunday and Monday over the Mid-South. Significant snow, sleet and freezing rain may occur causing noteworthy impacts. Yet another winter weather event may follow for Wednesday/Thursday next week. Stay tuned to the latest forecasts and weather conditions. Learn about winter weather safety and prepare ahead of time at www.weather.gov/safety/winter $$
  19. The folks in the Oklahoma/Texas/Kansas Arkansas thread are pretty pumped up from what I’ve read. Euro dumps a lot of snow on them on Sunday to start the show off
  20. Would be similar to our last good winter storm it seems like, (january2018). An inch or so of sleet and ice on the bottom with a few inches of snow on top. With another system 2-4 days after that dropped another 1-3 of sleet/snow. We were in a similar situation with brutal cold air in place for a week or so also, don’t think it was quite as cold as what’s being modeled now though. Snow/sleet stayed on the ground nearly 10 days. Longest I’ve ever seen the ground stay white in my 20 years in west Tn. The similarities of these two time frames/storm systems is interesting.
  21. Pretty good consensus amongst the models right now for the storm on Monday into Tuesday. Euro was the most bullish on totals, keeps West/Middle Tn In rain/ice longer than any of the other models but still puts down an inch for a good portion of west Tn. All 5 models are on the same page at this point though, so that’s something we’ve got in our favor
  22. How did the UKMET do at range with your Christmas snow? I feel like I remember the GFs being pretty locked into it from a ways out but I may be remembering wrong
  23. From what I’ve seen, yes. I’m glad it underperformed though versus the alternative. Some places north of 40 got some decent sleet accumulation also, saw some pics of white covered roads in Tipton county this morning.
  24. Had some thunder in hardeman county as well. Icing wasn’t too bad down my way. Got a good glaze (.10 maybe) of ice on all the trees and stuff but that’s about it. We dodged a bullet with this ice storm.
