    Brutal cold if that verifies. Most of the country is at or below freezing at the end of that run. January is starting to look more interesting by the day.     If you guys have time, go to weather.gov and check out the winter storm warnings on the US map that’s on the homepage. The entire west coast from Northern California all the way up to south Washington state is under a winter storm warning. It’s crazy to see how many areas could see measurable snow between now and Monday out that way. Just a massively wide swath of winter weather.

    The current La Niña is expected to persist until late summer or early autumn 2022. However, there are reasons to expect that this La Niña will not be as disruptive as the exceptionally strong event of 2010-12, including the fact that the 2010-12 La Niña coincided with a negative phase of the Indian Ocean Dipole.

    MJO forecast this morning looks like Phase 7 for a while to me. A few solutions take it into phase 8 but the overwhelming majority keep in in phase 7.

    January discussion for all things winter in the Tennessee Valley Sub-forum. When we have a likely event 2-3 days out we can create an individual thread for said storm. It helps for record keeping purposes as a lot us like to look back on old threads to learn, etc. Merry Christmas to all as well, I hope everyone has a great holiday.

    Nice to see modeling stay consistent with a southern storm around the 3-5th of January. Been showing up on modeling for 2-3 days now. Definitely something to keep an eye on going forward. Also- If it makes anyone feel better , Chicago is about to set a record for longest amount of time between measurable snow events. There around 215 days straight without a trace or more of snow. I only say this to show how hard it’s been to get snow the past year in areas that normally receive a lot of snow yearly.

    Plenty of cold air in our source regions as well. Pretty drastic cold front pushes through New Years Day.

    Good stuff, Carver. Definitely looks like we could have a shot at something in the beginning of January. long way off but there are definitely signs that have me optimistic.

    That run was all over the place in terms of temps. Get your sunblock and parka ready folks. lol

    Had a couple nice rumbles yesterday for sure, that stinks it didn’t reach you in middle TN. It Looked like a few cells were trying to hold together as they passed into the southern portion of middle Tn. Ended up with around .68 in the rain gauge after everything cleared out

    We’ve got some good thunderstorms rolling across the state today. Nice severe threat just south of brownsville, tn that should pass through around 3:45. Half inch hail associated with this cell as well. Interesting day weather wise in west TN, looks like tomorrow will be a cold start to the week

    It’s Starting to get chilly at the golf course with our 6am starts in the morning. I for one am loving it. Soil temps are starting to drop and growing season is slowing down. Gotta love fall in the Tennessee valley

    It’s picked up in intensity over my house since my first message. Coming down pretty good now, if it holds together you all in the mid state should have some good returns come through soon.

    The storm yesterday was the big winner for us in west Tn, Monday’s system dropped mainly sleet on us, 1.5-2” of sleet with maybe a 1/2-1” of actual snow. We were able to pick up 4-5’ all snow from last nights event. So that was a blessing for us snow lovers. I’ll post some pics in a little while
