  1. So far this storm (part 1) has played out exactly as modeled give or take some variance. That doesnt bode well for most of you on this forum going forward if: a) you trust the models b) you acknowledge models have been pretty good thus far Accuweather hasnt budged from their 1-2 inch forecast for lower westchester for several days...not that that means much.
  2. We lived in Astoria for the big el Nino blizzard a few years ago and I could quote your father. You know when you’re looking at something that’s going to come around once in your lifetime. You just know
  3. That is a city thing I remember doing it in Whitestone I remember what the light looks like and I remember when they finally changed the light pole a few years back I think you touched a nerve and brought back a warm memory
  4. Current temp is 30F, but I notice it is 40F in Central Park That will be a big factor tomorrow morning
  5. FOR PERSPECTIVE: Prior to this thread beginning, I read the long range forecast from Upton Snow->Snow/Rain->Rain->Snow/Rain->Snow That was Wednesday 17 pages later, the models are very consistent...even if you dont want to see it
  6. Interesting tid bit about the radar 28F Beautiful winter morning
  7. Happy Thanksgiving! Not sure how they got these guys flying...but wind is docile on this corner and nowhere near limits Think snow!
  8. Can everyone STOP saying December is done on Nov 27? How freaking ridiculous! Many of you called for a warm November. You would think you would learn! Take a chill pill and stop pretending you can predict wx with accuracy 30 days out. You cant.
  9. 39F Last night I took a quick ride into the city just after 10pm to pick up tickets. 55F in midtown, 41F at home. The UHI really ratchets up the night before a cold front with a SW wind. Ive noticed it several times. Why is that?
  10. You can observe a lot by just watching...
  11. Nov 25th folks. Let’s pack it in til 1/1/20. December (drum roll please) is shot Yesterday, December looked...good.
  12. We had a lot of cold periods last winter. Much more than the snowier winter the year before
  13. Hunter yesterday. For the middle of November that’s about as good as it gets in the Catskills Natural snow from around the 2000 Ft level
  14. It is too early yet. Let’s see We have an active storm track and prolonged cold air if we look at Nov. I am really curious what the next month holds. It will tell us a lot
  15. Another 19F morning. With another hour to go before sunrise we may shave off another degree
  16. Yet, you were on this site (social media) complaining about the city being unprepared for a (surprise) storm last year at the same time. Outrage at elected officials ensued That manufactured outrage, spread with total disregard to reality on every form of social media possible is what has created the plastic safety bubble world we live in today. Enjoy the salt down there in the boros...you sure paid for it in taxes. Also enjoy the inside knowledge that it was never really going to snow today...that much has been obvious for several days.
  17. Are you talking about Thanksgiving Eve? Maybe 1994? Went on to be a mild winter if I recall
