  1. You don’t even need to do that if you moved up to Westchester or Rockland there is still snow on the ground in many places. New York City was never a good place for us snow because it’s too warm. In a warming climate, even with monster storms, you have less ground cover days because the temperature has warmed so dramatically and the overnight lows in the urban core have been particularly affected. I notice that this week with a lot of moans and groans of no winter. Many of us still have spotty snow cover and it makes a bad winter much more palatable
  2. The weather experts on here have written off Monday. People looking out to next weekend…You are already down to 8 or 9 days. Would you take the over? haha
  3. That’s true but depending on which one of those tracks are taken it is a big difference for those of us in the northwest suburbs. One concrete aspect of these tracks is the city is done for just about anything… But for 2/3 of the area the difference between a low in Pennsylvania or a low over the coast is a huge deal
  4. We haven’t had a winter in a long time where we have cold that lasts more than a few weeks before an extended warm up. If you’re talking about a favorable pattern that produces snow in warm conditions…great. but if you think this seasonably cold or below normal air is going to stick around indefinitely, I doubt it. I would like to see us capitalize on some of this while we have it. No way to sugarcoat this… if this cuts West this is a big hit
  5. 12F at 10 pm 19F at 5 am Deer just casually walking down the street yesterday afternoon
  6. Anyone else rebuild their kids snowman last night while snow was wet? 26F brutal. Gusty NW wind TOGA takeoffs all around today
  7. Every piece is wrong. From DJ on out. Just a mess
  8. I really had hope looking at the radar all day that they wouldn’t be too much rain and we would keep some base It’s over Radar filled in pretty good. Light to Mod rain for several hours Nice 48 hours though
  9. I didn’t miss what happened. I was one of the first people to post in the observation thread about what was happening. The reality is it’s Sunday morning. Very low traffic. I hate to contradict anybody on here because I don’t want to get into an online spat. Guys were talking about icing in the city icing on Staten Island. Icing stopped south of the cross county. It was near 40° in the city. It was actually one of my best rides into Jfk because nobody could get into the city from the north and once I cleared that hurdle there was almost no traffic at all. Things get overblown on this site for better or worse. If you live in an urban area, this may be a little ice in the morning…but mostly a non event, light rain day for your Sunday
  10. I mean, for most of the metro area this is a rain event I dont want to minimize icing possibilities, on the other hand, thats kind of the situation in our urban areas. I84 corridor is very used to ice storms and will handle this without much issue
