Pretty. This is a N and W storm, an elevation storm, a grass and tree storm due to marginal temps.

Actually they didn’t. They predicted less snow because of less precipitation. The precipitation is there. It’s just falling as rain.

Well…this pattern hasnt worked for us much if you like “big” snowstorms. Becoming pretty clear that January is going to end with a lot of near misses 22F at moment

Marginal temps initially. you want as much of this to fall before sunrise if you want to maximize accumulation on all surfaces

Quick Foot up in Lake Placid as storm pulls put. 30F. Very powdery. Mixing was never an issue

Just dry-slotted in Lake Placid. I would say around 6 inches so far. Another Band in Albany will give us a bit more but definitely an under performer so far 26F

Several inches on ground in Lake Placid with moderate (1/2 mile vis looking at lake) snow and 22F. Not huge, but nothing to sneeze at. Obviously several hours to go. Huge dry slot over NYS is interesting.

Just an opinion…and a humble one at that You should hold off on these threads a bit. 38 pages. Guys are staying up all night looking at runs. Building up this big thing for something thats been nothing for a while. Again, just a humble opinion…I dont think these side week-long threads are healthy for the forum or the posters

When guys are tracking things 8/9 days out and creating 30 page threads that overshadow the whole forum what do you expect? Within any reasonable timeframe the storm was always going to be rain.

I asked the same thing. There is a disconnect somewhere

I noticed you guys keep mentioning Lee Goldberg. I see AccuWeather still has 3 to 6 inches of snow. What are they seeing that we aren’t?

29 pages later that’s the best graphic to explain situation. Thanks for sharing

You don’t even need to do that if you moved up to Westchester or Rockland there is still snow on the ground in many places. New York City was never a good place for us snow because it’s too warm. In a warming climate, even with monster storms, you have less ground cover days because the temperature has warmed so dramatically and the overnight lows in the urban core have been particularly affected. I notice that this week with a lot of moans and groans of no winter. Many of us still have spotty snow cover and it makes a bad winter much more palatable

The weather experts on here have written off Monday. People looking out to next weekend…You are already down to 8 or 9 days. Would you take the over? haha

You literally had a major snowstorm less than a week ago
