  1. Not only is that a lock the question is by how much This is Dec 15 territory. Rewriting the books.
  2. Something to look forward to next year…
  3. Just like this. Rain, rain, more rain
  4. actually, they’re having big problems out west. while this year has been good, they are totally dependent on natural snow because the ski areas are too big to make the kind of man made snow possible. They have been dealing with years of snow drought and rapid warming. Skiing out west is in a precarious situation. A small ski area in the northeast with the ability to pump out a lot of man made snow when it is cold is in the best position to weather climate change of the next 50 years. Beyond that it becomes untenable. Even more precarious are the Alps. Terrible climate change situation there
  5. The nostalgia for the 96 Blizzard is because it was the first in a series of mega snowstorms that ultimately ended 7 years ago with the largest snowfall ever. It was a great period to be a snow lover in NYC and ultimately ushered in a much warmer winter climate
  6. Poor Lake Placid. Hosting the World University Games next week. Whiteface has 42 of 96 trails open. Their Olympics were a similar weather disaster. You can blame them for this awful weather! Hey Ho…32F in Westchester this morning!
  7. In a perverse way, almost rooting for the 0 inch winter in CPK!p Can you imagine the hysterics on twitter? You know its coming shortly either way… Anyone else with me on this?
  8. Honestly, the earth can’t really sustain the amount of people has on it. we are reaching the tipping point of population exceeding natural resources to sustain it. Declining life expectancy is a natural solution to a natural problem. The Earth will adjust itself. It has done it many times already. If not, I would be looking at stegosauruses as I crawl down the Deegan emitting CO2 with my Jeep. If you want more concrete factors specifically for the US starting to die earlier: whites in poor communities are being inundated with fentanyl and opioids… and it is killing them. That has been bringing down the life expectancy of the US for a while now.
  9. I would say its a lock. you need to somehow negate the extremes here, and I just don’t see any extended period of even normal weather….forget BN. What a very sad state of affairs
  10. got cold and stayed for a week after that. that was our whole winter. 10.5 inches
  11. In fairness if you blanked Dec and you lose Jan…winter is a goner. A 10 incher in February and a quick melt in March wont change that. So he had a good shot at being right on Jan 5th looking at the next 20 days
  12. Ok…winter can be over. But no more rain. Just. No. More. Rain
  13. We need to be going for all time monthly record if that happens right?
  14. So basically and unprecedented El Nino storm or a gutter ball! I’ll go with the gutter ball at this point. The question is how low will the snowfall total be?
  15. Stop it. there is zero need for air conditioning at the moment.
  16. LGA 14C; BOS 4C this morning for the Shuttle flight huge temp swing with that warm front sitting over northern CT
  17. It rarely happens… but I love when the fog is so dense in Hastings on Hudson that The ships on the Hudson River have to sound their foghorns. so ancient, but yet so necessary
  18. Im 44. but I know that warmth is coming overnight.
  19. That may be optimistic! but this is quite the rain storm if it makes you feel better
  20. The invention of the century if that happened
  21. Forget the snow…it’s too warm. Lack of snow isn’t the story… The extreme warmth is. This isnt normal. You’ve had year upon year of extreme winter warmth. I mean you look out at the GFS… that isn’t January; that’s fucking November. Your chances of getting snow with November temperatures…. You have no chance. So forget yearly averages, means, medians. if you live in Brooklyn and you have a begonia plant in your apartment, put it out on the fire escape and it’s not going to die anytime soon. When you grasp that reality, you will stop talking about snow. This isnt a Pacific pattern. This is unprecedented. This is fucking insane. rewriting the playbook . End of story.
  22. What does the timing of the rain look like tomorrow?
  23. That’s a shame. Signed, your northern neighbor
  24. honestly, even in the warmest winter, law of averages. Doesn’t take a genius or a model to know that if the first two weeks of January are 10 to 15° above normal, at some point in the third or fourth week it’s gonna get colder. Safe bet
  25. Dense Fog. 44F Gotten more dense over last hour
