  1. actually, I think it’s very representative. If you want to haggle over an inch or two in Central Park, that’s fine. that little 30 mile swath just north of 195 is what’s not representative of the metro area this winter. The metro area is literally melting from record warmth, record number of lack of freezing temperatures, and record low snowfall. I can’t remember the last time I drove down to Queens to shovel my parents sidewalk. what was an annual occurrence or multi times throughout the year, it hasn’t happened in years. Maybe that pre-Christmas storm a few years back. I live north of the city, and I have palm annuals still going. Simply amazing. i’ve never seen anything like it and per our record book nobody else has either. Central New Jersey between 195 and 78 for a few hours in one storm aside, we are in big, big trouble here.
  2. I was just barbecuing for lunch. with the wind and the cloud cover and the temperature, I swear if you closed my eyes and spun me in a circle it felt like a shitty memorial day.
  3. You could plant begonias. How is CPK doing with number of days below freezing? Has to be lowest ever. I wonder if it even happens again. Earliest last freeze possible? Just Epic how many records broken this winter!
  4. Briefly dry slotted and happy in Westchester
  5. NE flow where water helps cool things. We are seattle, they are spokane
  6. it would’ve been a snow rain event with a good dump upfront. Long story short it’s just too warm to snow around here now and it’s been like that all winter. There’s no March snowstorm coming to save the day. You need absolutely perfect conditions at this point to get snow around here and that really only happens in the heart of winter
  7. Today was your March snowstorm. 10 degrees too warm for it.
  8. I flew the redeye in this morning from west coast. You had to see the storms we had to pick around in St Louis! The line between St. Louis and Chicago had tops to 45,000 feet at 4 o’clock in the morning at the beginning of March! It was crazy
  9. This. Models changed from sustained +10-15 to a day of that followed by March cool followed by more warmth. Seesaw. May save ski season a bit. Nice day, but waaaaaay to early for this and the motorcycle exhaust shit. That is April weekend stuff. next weekend looks cool thank God. hopefully the noisy motorcycles will stay in.
  10. i’m always wearing shorts, but I’m wearing shorts today comfortably. 58F already. And the sun! the sun is out!!!
  11. actually, I’m a skier. There’s a bunch of skiers on here and you may not want snow, but the lack of cold air up in the mountains is going to cut short a season that is very expensive. Locally ski season goes until April 1. For those of us that buy season passes we bank on skiing several times in March. More importantly, in an economically depressed state like New York, people in the Hudson Valley Catskills Adirindacks, depend on people skiing for four or five months of the year for their livelihood. there are a few other jobs up there outside of tourism
  12. I love my SUV. 6 cylinder hybrid that gets awful gas mileage even with the $10000 hybrid sticker on the back. I wouldn’t give it up for a decimal point data change 50 years from now. And there are a lot of people just like me. actually, most people are like me. That’s the problem Enjoy November in January. nothing is going to change.
  13. Man are you on the wrong forum? This group hates cold and snow! haha Welcome
  14. 51.1 is warmest March for CPK. Gotta make a run for that unless something changes for second half
  15. Squall Line just went thru. Reading a book in shorts on couch listening to the downpour I had to remind myself it is 2/28
  16. not nearly as warm today as forecasted. Continues the trend of the winter of the warmest departures being over the Midwest. Low 50s all day
  17. No way. Maybe a sleeper team. But dont have high expectations
  18. It is amazing that Im reading about wild fire smoke and tornados in Illinois in February! And you guys are looking for snow in NYC in march. Like the Jets building a case for the Lombardi Trophy haha
  19. 40 degree back to back winters with plenty of precip. There’s absolutely no comparison whatsoever to the 60s or 70s or 80s. that’s just trying to gloss over and compromise with reality We lost the snow because it’s too warm.
  20. The arborvitaes are terrible in the snow you gotta clean them off right away if not they never go back. But my pine trees, the magnolia bush even the cedars took a hit
  21. I don’t know about anybody else but for this non-winter, there’s not a tree or shrub or fence on my property that has not been damaged by the heavy wet snow that froze over on several occasions. Very messy as I assess spring clean up
  22. But havent days of High 80s/High Humidity increased at the expense of days in the Low 90s with lower humidity? It is very noticeable how we cant get over 95 with ease anymore. We have settled into a Florida tropical like summer climate from mid June through mid September in which high dews keep overnights real warm and temper daytime highs while feeling absolutely miserable and buggy at all times
  23. And it’s still gonna be +10, which really says it all
