  1. why do people come up with these crazy models? Just spend the funds on one model to make it as good as possible.
  2. yeah thats the only bad part- I need to turn the heat on at night
  3. what causes it? is it the awful number of people driving around in dirty oil powered vehicles? Mandatory car pooling needs to be in effect, four people per car or not allowed to drive, period end of discussion.
  4. New PBS series beginning next Monday https://www.pbs.org/show/power-trip-story-energy/
  5. If we do get an el nino next year, Summer 2021 may not be as hot as we think..... la ninas going into el ninos dont make for very hot summers. Even in our 11 yr cycle of hot summers, the hottest tend to be el ninos going into la ninas, not vice versa. Maybe Chris or Don could do an analysis of this.
  6. lots of fireballs being spotted- there was one visible in Alabama a few days ago and another one over Europe a few days ago. This must be the one Mt Holly mentioned
  7. this is way better than the hell of 5 straight days of rain. sunshine is awesome
  8. perfect weather, I was getting sick and tired of the high humidity and high mins. I see someone developed a machine to squeeze the moisture out of the air and turn it into drinking water? We need to do that en masse around here.
  9. Alex Trebek RIP :-( I grew up watching him host Jeopardy!
  10. and mild Novembers after cold Octobers meant snowy winters (6/6 preceding 50"+ winters up to 93-94)
  11. I went to see the tweet and found out Alex Trebek just passed away :-(
  12. What's this about an earthquake in Long Island Sound, Mag 4? Did anyone feel it?
  13. Chris was 1993-94 el nino like? I remember we went from a cold October and early November to a historically warm November by the middle of the month
  14. Yeah I think the chances NYC hits 80 in February are higher than getting 30 inches of snow.
  15. I agree with that but the turnaround may be muted. I dont believe March will have 10" or more of snow and wont be enough to get us to average.
  16. Chances of hitting 80 in February higher or getting 30 inches of seasonal snowfall higher?
  17. illustrative to note you get record heat like this in both el ninos and la ninas.
  18. 72 at JFK! No seabreeze! How does this compare to the November 14-15 period in 1993 at JFK?
  19. I thought you said that while winter would be pretty mild, shorter wavelengths in March mean we'd probably have a turnaround by then?
  20. How does this compare to the November 1993 heat where we hit 72 and 80?
  21. There might be a climate involvement here as Oceans are heating up quickly. That said, I thought the la ninas during the late 90s and early 00s were stronger?
  22. Interesting- was 1953 the same year that had that historic late season heatwave with our longest streak of 90+ highs which included a 102 all time record for September?
  23. Don, I heard this November could be near the top in term of 70 degree highs.....any idea how close it is to that?
