  1. Newark reached 106 in 2010? I thought they reached 108 in 2011?
  2. I didn't even know there was an airport in Harrison lol
  3. go big or go home, a hall of fame summer followed by a hall of fame winter is the best possible combo! I hope it hits 111 this summer!
  4. do you chase them or do they chase you?
  5. My prediction- first chance for 90s will be Memorial Day weekend.
  6. Chris can you give a full list of the analogs you've found? Anything from 2010-13 is impressive, but we haven't had the 100 degree extreme heat since that torrid stretch.
  7. But then why have we been having problems with 90 degree high quantities.....the records from 1991 and 1993 still hold, although it should really be 2010 (which in itself was 11 years ago.) And what has caused the sea breeze to be more active now than it was back then?
  8. I like high heat with very low humidity, that really keeps the bugs away plus I like hitting historic numbers It also means the temps cool down nicely at night.
  9. wow hope you're okay....how did you get rid of it? Or should I say, how did it get rid of you haha Yes, I live alone and only run it in one room lol. I only go elsewhere to take a bath (hot water) or to the kitchen (to heat up some food). it's all good during the day because I have a lot of sun coming inside which heats up my house very quickly (by 10 am and until 8 pm)
  10. when it gets really hot there are actually less bugs, it's the in between yucky 80s and humid stuff that brings the bugs. There were very few bugs in 2010.....
  11. Luckily, Memorial Day is the latest it can ever be, the last day of May lol.
  12. It's interesting that neither 1988 nor 2015 (two analogs) is on this list, 1977 however is.....the summer monthly avg are being pushed up by the mins not the maxes. It would be interesting if you calculated max avg separately from min avg.
  13. I have some bad ventilation in here, whenever it gets windy I feel the cold wind in the bedroom, so I turn on the heater to counteract it.
  14. I just keep my space heater on at 80 in my bedroom. Dont care about the rest of the house.
  15. Thanks Forky, this is exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately Central Park is bucking the 90s trend.....they were a travesty in 2010, they barely had more than JFK did and JFK had the most they've ever had by a large amount. So for here it's 2 more 90 degree days per year and 1 more 100 degree day per year.
  16. As long as it hits 102 or higher in July I dont care what happens right now, I have my space heater on at night set at 80 and sunshine during the day lol.
  17. 80s meh....go big or go home, in an 11 yr summer, if we dont hit 100 at the coast at least once I'll be highly disappointed.
  18. we love extreme heat, that is the only real exciting summer weather we can have. I'm thinking of a 1977 analog, as both 1988 and 2015 were hot but not extreme. I don't consider high "average" monthly temps to be extreme heat.....
  19. It does warm up rather quickly during the day. I have huge windows in my house so solar power goes on strong here as soon as the sun comes up. I turn on my space heater at sunset and keep it going until morning at 80, so it's warm at night too.
  20. so is the part about air pollution and the current mass extinction event
  21. we should be adding to that below 50 low stat this week
  22. How about we bring the predators back and human beings stop interfering with nature?
  23. Thanks Don! Do you have one for MJX (Toms River) too?
  24. Thanks, pretty close to what I had in the Poconos. I wonder if any of that snow from the midwest will make it to over there?
  25. This April/May period is what we need to monitor to see if this trend of extreme MJO and temperature variability continues. It's particularly damaging to plants when you have this kind of pattern.
