  1. I lost 2 aunts to cancer, you have my fullest sympathy....one had stomach cancer and the other had brain cancer
  2. that storm gets shoved so far west that its mixed precip on the east end lol
  3. Funny, 32 F used to be above normal for Jan in the 80s Most Jan averaged in the 20s back then
  4. we had a few of these in 2004-05 do you remember any that backed in all the way and delivered significant snow here? In my memory the most we get is a few inches here I think there was one in Feb 2016 that gave 4-6 inches to eastern parts of the city that was probably the biggest one I remember
  5. dont we usually get historic events like these just before a major pattern change?
  6. Wait what, the JFK number keeps going up? I thought it was 6.2" lol. Did the NYC number go up too? Where is the final report?
  7. Walt.... 8.1 inches of snow here on 0.90" precip jives well with how heavy and wet the snow was here, all the trees are literally caked in snow! 9:1 ratio.....I wonder what it was at JFK?
  8. Based on Walt's numbers..... Looks like down here on the south shore it was closer to 10:1.....I wonder why? The trees here are full of snow, just like a heavy wet snow.....8.1 inches on 0.90 precip? Wow, that's actually, 9:1, might explain the lower snow totals down here? Chris do you have the official JFK ratios? Either way the snow down here was really wet and caked all the trees until they were bent over.....until the wind started up and blew it all down lol.

  10. Yeah I dont care if California and Washington and Oregon don't see a single drop of precipitation from now until the end of the season, they got theirs.
  11. Maybe with ACC going forward we'll see more El Nino like patterns even outside El Ninos?
  12. Thanks Don! I see why I confused the two.....they both happened in Jan 2004 and they both ended in the morning! So the mid Jan 2004 event was the one with the extremely high ratios and the late Jan 2004 event was the one with the pink snow? I still remember the wide variance in snowfall..... Far Rockaway had almost 11 inches while JFK was closer to 6.5! Did this one not have the extreme ratios of the prior storm and were the temps not as cold? I think this was the pink snow storm that I still remember all these years later.
  13. Thanks Don, so this was a 6-7 inch event here. I'm trying to remember what storm we had that winter that was a 10-11 inch event (not the Blizzard of Dec 2003).
  14. Don do you remember any other pink snow instances besides Jan 2004 and Jan 2009?
  15. Thanks so much Don is this the final report? I saw some of the Nassau County reports (East Rockaway, for example) weren't updated after 7 am. Also, I was actually looking for the final report on the January 2004 storm that had the high ratios. I wonder where old storm reports are filed away?
  16. sort of like Feb 1994, we finally did get into a big thaw and temps in the 60s but that was after two snow storms in the same week and then got more snow in March.
  17. wow thats some ratio lol was 4.6 the total snowfall for the entire storm? I remember it to be somewhat higher than that....
  18. Yea that was the pink snowstorm I was thinking of and we got a low of 1 on back to back nights I think? Were predicted to go below zero but it never happened.
