huh every forecast I looked has nothing but sunshine after that storm leaves on Saturday

and thats the end of the bad weather, looks like nothing but sun and fun after that!

But Lee Goldberg has mentioned it multiple times. I think it's obvious to them-- and I read somewhere that they mentioned it to park officials but the park people just wont do it. At this point I dont see any solutions outside of manually relocating the equipment-- do you? It's so obvious there is no way they don't know what's going on. On a different subject-- Chris, can you list JFK's top 90 degree day years? I think they would be 2010, 2002 and 1983? 1944 must have been an amazing summer- big heat and capped off with the Great Atlantic Hurricane! By the way did you notice that even after adding those extra 90 degree days, 2010 still stands out way ahead of every other year and no other recent year is above 7th at Central Park?

I've always thought that kind of severe weather is much more common in the fall. Because of tropical weather and also because the waters are much warmer then. November was rowdy too. I have a feeling we might have a similar fall this year with the warm SST and La Nina still present.

well at least the warmth indicates the sky conditions should be good for the eclipse?

any early forecasts for the eclipse, Chris?

We dont get much severe weather here. It's nice to get a snowstorm in early April, that bridges the gap to a more exciting summer here.

I'm not even sure what the big deal is about trimming? Isn't that what thousands of families all over the tristate area do every year?

April 2018 was much colder here with a 6" snowstorm on the 2nd, an extension of the March pattern.

Same thing going on here, I really love dry weather and heat -- didn't get the heat but the 0 F dew points are nice, the strong winds not so nice. The low dewpoints are great for limiting my allergies.

I've often experienced that critters and mosquitos go away when it's very hot and very dry. That's the kind of energy that fixes many things. Very hot and very dry is ideal, even if you have to water....no critters, no mosquitoes, no pollen, no nothing. That will also give you your cool nights while in the day time the dry ground and wall to wall sunshine and downsloping winds make you feel glad to be alive

but do you do a "one size fits all" adjustment for each day or is it different each day based on cloud cover, wind direction, soil moisture, etc?

any early predictions of sky conditions for that eclipse coming up on the night of the 15th, Chris?

wow, I fully expected to hear fire sirens, but so far nothing. Looks like the thunderstorms have moved on and we're back to foggy lol

Is there any way to project where Central Park would rank on these lists if their equipment was sited better?

Did you notice something odd Chris that temperature records at JFK for hottest summers seem to correspond better between JFK and EWR than they do between JFK and LGA? Also, if we take mins out of the equation and just focus on number of 90 degree days how far up does 2020 rank for that at LGA? I think we'll also see a stronger correspondence there between EWR and JFK than either with LGA. Also what would it take to see a repeat of a 2010 kind of summer? Something after a strong el nino?

But doesn't the southrely breeze indicate the heat isn't strong enough to reach the coast? 2010 stands out as so much hotter than any other year it's amazing....what happened to make that summer so different and how long before it happens again? Yes 1999 was amazing too! I have my list lol....2010, 2002, 1999, 1995, 1993, 1991, 1983, 1980 Weird thing is Newark seems to be a closer match to JFK for top heat in these years than LGA is-- did you notice that too, Chris? Oh I see 2002, 1991 and 1983 are in your list too! I see 2011 is in there too and while that takes the cake for the hottest day I've experienced here, the historically rainy August made that summer not as hot as the others in my list.

yes very loud and I thought I heard hail but it was probably just really big raindrops lol the lightning was very vivid though we get our best thunderstorms in the early morning oddly enough

Unfortunately the temperatures dont seem to match and I was honestly shocked to see the deviation from average in 2020, it never felt like that here-- we never even got close to 100. It's the curse of that south wind. We need to just keep track of the highs and average those out because the definition of a hot day is high temp 90 or above. So judging heat by how many 90 degree days there are each year is probably the best way.

with these stuck patterns it looks like wall to wall cloudiness coming up...we better have clear skies for that eclipse coming up in 2 weeks

These summers honestly aren't as hot as the amazing ones from the past. It's like comparing Mickey Mantle to Aaron Judge lol.
