  1. 1996 was outstanding with three 4"+ events in March and another one in April here. When did it snow here in March 1999 and how much did we get?
  2. Thanks, I actually like going to the Poconos, because it's not as cold there as it is further north. Camelback is pretty good to ski at without getting the extreme cold of Upstate NY.
  3. Nope anything north of Southern Westchester is upstate to me. There are mountains in Rockland (or so I heard) where people go hiking. That's all Catskills to me and I don't go there
  4. Neither of them have any control over the weather, so it's not even worth arguing about.
  5. There has to be something other than this that would bring about an -AO? Dont singular AO regimes have a limited lifespan anyway....after a few weeks they revert back to what they were before? What exactly is it that would keep the +AO going....does it feedback into something else?
  6. lol sorry, I just dont really like going out of major cities unless I'm at my other house and even that really annoys me because everything is so far away from each other. Besides skiing why exactly would one go to the Catskills?
  7. yup lol thats true too, but the amazing part for me is actually knowing it's the last time I'll see it for 6+ months so when you know it's the last time you enjoy it more. I think the April 2018 6" snowstorm was gone a day later but the one in April 2003 (also 6" here) was actually around for 3 days afterwards....not that it actually mattered, getting an all day snowstorm in April was what was amazing about it.
  8. and this is why the general public is so hard to convince...one, they didn't even do the conversion from C to F, and secondly they think the changes will be insignificant.
  9. I think we have awhile to go before snowfall averages start going down-- ACY is still getting years where they have more snow than we do lol. I'd say it will be 2040 at the earliest before they start going down.
  10. weird... I dont have info for the I-84 corridor, which airport is your benchmark? Maybe we can compare how the 30 year norms have changed across each region of the subforum
  11. thats exactly why nations that continue to pollute the planet need to be punished-- harshly! I'm fine with 100% nuclear power it's much better than anything else we have.
  12. and last November was around -2 wasn't it?
  13. No reason that cant be snow though....after April 10th chances of significant accumulating snow are done
  14. Yeah but I've traveled a lot internationally. I just don't see that there's really anything to do up there besides skiing.
  15. 26 is now the average for JFK lol
  16. Well thats interesting, do you have a similar chart for November and March departures, Chris? So both are usually similar and on the same side of 0? That puts a new wrinkle into things.
  17. Yes I think thats strange, I bet there was a little battle between Upton and Mt Holly and Mt Holly won. I actually think our subforum should include both.
  18. I like mine better lol, I think NW NJ should be considered part of our zone. Officially the NYC metropolitan area is considered thusly: Okay maybe a combo of the two lol
  19. Do you think this will be a big blow to the warm March forecasts and especially the forecasts that the second half of March would be warmer compared to normal than the first half?
  20. No I would put mindbending sanctions on ANY nations that were still producing fossil fuels by then, to the point where it would no longer be profitable. Profits are the only language these companies and countries understand.
  21. thats awesome lol. Someone posted stats about hot summers making snowy winters more likely though.
