  1. no frost here, too urbanized, we didnt even get into the 30s here
  2. isn't 37 the highest temp you can get frost in? I dont think SW Nassau got any frost....too urbanized here, we didn't even get into the 30s yet
  3. what happened in 2001? I remember that was my latest freeze with flowers blooming after Christmas lol and new flowers coming up in February, shortest freeze season ever
  4. hard freeze Don? I think thats defined as 4 hours below 28 if I'm not mistaken?
  5. Getting criticized at COP26 for this menu....get a load of this huge carbon footprint https://twitter.com/i/events/1455879070672117762 https://twitter.com/BigIssue/status/1455871535055577091
  6. February and March in 2015 were really good though
  7. the only worse weather I can imagine is 33 and rain
  8. Don since NYC should see at least one sub 50 high, does that also mean we're likely to see at least one low temp in the 30s too?
  9. no because China is the worst polluter of them all, they are opening up new coal mines. the entire G20 meeting in Rome was a big mess, they couldn't even decide on a timetable on when to shut down coal mines.
  10. should start naming bomb cyclones like they name them over in Europe. I wonder what the European criteria for naming storms is?
  11. November 1993.......... widespread freeze and heavy frost in the first week (down to 28 here just SE of JFK)....then we hit 80 on November 15th for the latest 80 we've ever had, and a day after the marathon where many were overcome by heat. and the winter, as they say, was historic
  12. wow they actually got almost as cold as MPO, must have been one of those inversion layers that makes the valleys colder. Will all these locations get their first freeze this week? I'm guessing the coastal regions and the city will have to wait for around Thanksgiving to have our first freeze?
  13. Looks like Manchin was using delay tactics and when he realized they wouldn't work anymore he decided to be honest, he was never going to vote for this, even though they cut the price in half, right down to what he wanted. You know how they say "we don't negotiate with terrorists".....we need a version of that phrase for the likes of Manchin and Sinema. This is yet another reason why democracy isn't the ideal form of govt to address crises like this.....an authoritarian regime that was pro environment could actually get things done no matter what these relics of the past have to say.
  14. awesome....so nothing will be passed. He wants greater "clarity" after meeting with Biden and associates for an entire week?
  15. amazing some of these great winters and the mild Novembers that preceded them: using the list of 40+ winters between 1950 and 1994..... 1960-61, 1966-67, 1977-78, 1993-94 (50+) 1957-58, 1963-64 (40+) they all had mild Novembers (6/6).....
  16. Yesss, wasn't there also a clipper after the Jan 96 blizzard that gave DC more snow than what we got?
  17. I remember reading somewhere that super el ninos have become more likely and connected that to climate change, not sure about the likelihood of the other enso phases.
  18. Thanks for the list, Don! I believe this will be Mt Poconos latest first freeze on record? And Allentown didn't get below 40 in October?
  19. https://twitter.com/i/events/1455188361090637827 Young People Are Over Democrats — and Republicans, New Data Show: What That Means for 2022 New data suggests young voters are growing more frustrated with elected leaders. Some may be on the verge of ditching both political parties altogether.
  20. with all this talk of warming climate and warming oceans, how are we still getting la ninas? They'll likely be a thing of the past in the future when our oceans are boiling year round
  21. actually prior to 95-96, the blockbuster winters all had mild Novembers
  22. so our first widespread freeze is going to be around Thanksgiving?
  23. remember after April 1982 there was another storm in the forecast a week later, and we got an inch of snow instead of the 3-6 that was predicted
  24. Manchin takes six figures from the coal cartels, therefore he wants no climate change legislation.....Sinema takes six figures from PhRMA so she doesn't want to allow medicare to negotiate drug prices. Money talks
