  1. Nice! So no more of these two a week rainstorms anymore Might finally have the hot dry summer I've been craving for.
  2. I wonder if there's a way for a storm to stall for 3 days and produce all snow for us. The Dec 1992 storm wasn't that far off from being a snowstorm and we actually had accumulating snow on the 3rd day of the storm as it shifted to our east. So let's say the storm stalled near Cape Cod for 3 days, could that produce an all snow storm, basically a blizzard version of December 1992 for us?
  3. I'm thinking the high end possibility here is it could be like what we had in February, that one only stuck to grass and car tops too and yet we got 3"
  4. why wasnt that snow? looks like an offshore system
  5. So more snow with the 10:1 than Kuchera? Thats a switch
  6. yeah could be like 2-4, what time is the heaviest supposed to be?
  7. Locals here are talking about 2-4 inches of snow grassy areas only
  8. do you think we could get into the 70s too, Don? JFK hit 69 in late February, I cant remember the last time it hit 70 here
  9. JFK was also in the 60s, not sure of what the exact high was, it was in the low to mid 60s here
  10. ice blocks? I'd go full on liquid hellum, the coldest substance known to humankind. I dont understand why we aren't going headlong into climate engineering. It's obvious we wont stop fossil fuels anytime soon and as a matter of fact the new IPCC report projects a 14% increase of fossil fuel consumption by 2030, so the only alternative is to pour trillions into climate modification and resiliency projects.
  11. there's a positive to this....strong SE ridge means we should avoid that dreaded cool wet pattern that people were talking about, so hopefully we'll have a nice prelude to summer aka the spring and summer of 2002.
  12. So this is interesting, because of the warming of the west pacific we could actually be in a permanent or semi permanent la nina state? That would be a good reason to move the hell away from coastal areas- not because of lack of snowfall, but because coastal areas will probably be wrecked by a barrage of tropical systems every year. I'm glad I have my other house in the Poconos.
  13. really 12-14" for eastern parts of the city and over here. and 21-26" seasonal snowfall
  14. Then of course the question becomes why have we had a persistent lack of blocking this winter-- what caused the +AO/+NAO to be so persistent this year?
  15. No I just mean a break from the rain for like 2 weeks and not this 4 rainstorms in 2 weeks. I would like to see the kind of rainfall pattern we had in the 80s, which was something like 3-4 inches of rain per month total.
  16. excellent, I've been buying outdoor lights that use LiPO batteries, I wonder if this is similar?
  17. which is confusing-- shouldnt we have fewer la ninas with climate change? why doesn't the entire pacific heat up?
  18. no rain at all is far preferable....honestly, who needs or wants rain? I'd much rather have heat and dry heat at that
  19. right that wasnt historic for us, I enjoyed March 2015 much more than either March 1993 or March 2018 for that matter.
  20. same 26" here in SW Nassau, pretty decent
  21. thats weird you got less snow than I did....I had 26" here which is about average.
