It also reminds me of the east coast of Florida. We're already starting to see the changing TC tracks with the storm last year that tracked from Bermuda to Rhode Island. The other thing I worry about with this is the increasing levels of pollen and the bugs that seem to come earlier and earlier and stay later and later. We might need to have widespread spraying for mosquitoes every year soon like they do in Florida.

Does this mean the climate models were wrong? I distinctly remember that back in 2020 the prediction was made that NYC would average 3 100+ days every summer by 2050 and NYC's climate would become like Atlanta's. Will there come a time when the warming will become so extreme that it won't matter where the high is anchored or how much it rains, coastal areas will hit 100 no matter what?

We do need to decrease wasteful energy consumption for a number of reasons. As an astrophotographer I am amazed at all the electricity wasted powering cities late at night, there is no evidence that it increases safety whatsoever but there is evidence that it has serious health side effects including increasing rates of cancer. I am glad that we've banned fracking here and in nearby states, people have seen the light with the environmental damage it does that's why I'm a hard NO! on methane (so-called "natural" gas)... it's banned in NY, NJ and eastern PA.

thats correct, I always express this in terms of human lifetimes. Because human beings themselves exist for limited time spans, nothing they create (whether concrete structures or nations) can exist for unlimited time spans either.

Fusion will be ready within our lifetimes, it's like creating our own suns, why get power from 93 million miles away when you can make a small star right on our own planet!

You don't think nuclear fusion is the solution either? Based on what I've been reading, controllable nuclear fusion should be ready within the next few decades. Methane isn't part of the solution dude, the fossil fuel cartels need to be removed from the equation.

I've been holding fast to 2-3, and 2 in most cases. Hopefully that's good enough.

What about hydroelectric?

I graded it a C for here, because although there were two decent storms (one 6" and one 12"+) the total snowfall was right around average (being between NYC and the places east of here who got the 2 foot amounts). Even if we had gotten the 2 foot snowfall back here, it would in no way have been an all timer, as Jan 2016 was FAR superior to it in many ways (not just the 30"+ snowfall, but also for duration of 30 hours and wind and verified blizzard conditions for 12 straight hours.)

Are these all at airports? It makes me wonder if we can get official weather reporting locations outside of airports in other parts of the country not completely covered by airports. Like the north shore of Long Island and the south shore of Nassau County locally.

Actually I don't know how they look but others have posted how they look in screenshots. Which is why I've decided to limit myself. My main problem with the multiquote issue is when talking about different things in the same thread, it has an awkward look when everything is posted on in a single post. I've done that before and read back the post and it's hard to follow a train of thought if let's say half a dozen different things are being talked about in the same post. I have to click back to see what each part of the post was in response to. Single posts can have a similar issue when talking about separate things in the same thread but at least if you're following a single conversation within the thread it's less distracting. But I see when it gets to a lot of consecutive posts it's self-defeating. And to Mr Gravity, I never said he in particular was stupid, I just think it's an odd thing to complain about, if it's just a few posts, but if it's say half a dozen or a dozen posts I understand-- and I lose track of how many I make after awhile. Which is why I think self-limiting to 2-3 is a far better idea.

On the trajectory we're on right now it's going to be difficult to avoid 2.0C, let alone 1.5C. I think the current best estimate is for 2.2C warming? And why are nations like China on a spending spree for building more coal plants? Hopefully they see the light soon.

Fracking and all that it entails are huge environmental issues and I don't want to give the fossil fuel cartels a leg to stand on. This is more than just about climate, it's also about health issues and ethics. If anything the fossil fuel cartels are worse than the tobacco cartels.

where does nuclear fit in here? why not substitute nuclear for methane (what you call "natural" gas)-- I have major issues with methane and it's definitely not clean. I'd far rather have more nuclear plants and ban all fossil fuels entirely
