what do you mean strongest cold signal for any week in March yet-- do you mean ever? Better than March 2018?
-
Yes the only good thing about 07-08 here was the February 22nd storm.
-
2001-02 still ranks higher to me than 2011-12 does because 2011-12 had the October snowstorm at least, which was historic.
-
Yes this is much more so a N of NYC storm so not optimistic about this area. A lot of the 80s and early 90s storms were like this
-
The best thing about this cold shot is it will clear all this junk out of the area.
-
Amazing how cold 2015 was this late in the season! Do you have the last single digit low that occurred at NYC, JFK, LGA, EWR? Was it on the 28th? Also when was the last time these locations had a single digit low in March? Thanks!
-
Can you show the CMC please? I want to see how far south it gets with frozen precip.
-
You do! Granted this winter has sucked everywhere but it has sucked more for some of us than others. I'm at 0.2 snowfall officially, though unofficially it's probably more like 0.8 Splitting hairs really!
-
Don what was the final 2001-02 average DJF temperature? If we finish second to it in temperature but have less snow than it, we will achieve a higher score than it, correct?
-
He keeps saying "not all patterns are the same"
-
You keep saying this but the fact remains that those of us who are close to the ocean and in the southern part of the region ALWAYS GET SCREWED. There's a reason the media always says "NORTH AND WEST" Because that's where all the snow is and will remain.
-
Is this kind of like December 2005 to you?
-
It reminds me of December 2005.....0 here, 6 inches for Central Park, double digits in New England
-
depends if its at the end or the beginning, if its a few inches that quickly gets washed away-- no thanks
-
115 mph, 6 miles on the ground 200 yards wide path
-
would be like 0 here lol
-
it's climo dude, our snow season here usually ends with February. People to the north do better.
-
should have been for THIS Saturday
-
Right, this is not the kind of set up where we see a significant snow storm
-
will likely be rain here then or a mix.
-
Problem is, as Chris and I have discussed in previous years, this is a highly stable pattern and tends to last for a few years.
-
Yep basically agreed with cape. for - nao to work the Pacific needs to cooperate....it doesn't need to be great but it can't be utterly hostile either
-
this is also why -nao rarely worked out in the 80s too
-
record cold and record warmth in the CONUS at the same time, how much of a role did that play?
-
Yes it's on Steam called https://universesandbox.com Universe Sandbox is a physics-based space simulator.
