  1. In the third one, the critter was looking right at me....
  2. My first hawk image, this critter has been here before, but it's the first time I've been able to take pictures of him. I got 3 good ones but I can only upload one per post. So here goes.
  3. Cooper's Hawk, I think? The first time I've ever been able to photograph them, it's their third visit. Fuji S1 at 2400mm EFL (50x optical zoom plus 2x intelligent digital zoom).
  4. could be one of our coldest snowstorms, rivaling 03-04
  5. Cooper's Hawk I think. It was too large to be a Sharp Shinned Hawk. It was about the size of a crow. https://academy.allaboutbirds.org/raptor-id/?utm_campaign=bird academy general&utm_source=AABinPage&utm_medium=SlideIn&utm_term=Hawks&utm_content=Hawk ID
  6. I woke up at 7:45 but had to deal with some other stuff first (plus last night's Euro looked good so I slept easy.) There was a giant hawk in my back yard, no clue what it is, but it's dark grey on top and mottled brown and white on the bottom with huge red eyes. I took pictures but it's too large to upload here. Any idea what species it could be? It's the third time I've seen it but the first time I've gotten pictures of it. So we have giant hawks and cute parakeets here, Long Island is turning into a bird sanctuary.
  7. If there is no blocking where is all this cold air coming from?
  8. so the difference is more because JFK is normally much colder than LGA vs actual temperatures being much warmer at JFK this month?
