  1. True. Those were tough times on Long Island. The few times we did get storms always seemed to be during a school vacation or on the weekend.
  2. I have said this many times before and been criticized
  3. True. 1 year out of those 2 decades.
  4. You know what this means???? We are old!
  5. I have said this for many years—I was always told that it’s really difficult for it to snow on Long Island and the coast. The snow was always north and west. The Tappan Zee bridge was usually a good divider. The 2000’s and beyond have been incredible if you want snow. People do not realize how fortunate they are to have experienced this.
  6. Truth. The 70’s and 80’s were a disappointment for those who wanted snow at the coast
  7. This Especially for those who live on or near the coast.
  8. On your forecast, the amount expected goes up to 96 inches--Have never seen this
  9. Are you saying that December may be mild?
  10. What temp did you drop to? We held steady in western Suffolk despite the clear skies
  11. Why stop at a crippling snowstorm--should we have a category 3 hurricane hit us as well? 10 inches of rain? I can appreciate the awesomeness of weather and its power and fury--I also fear the destruction it can cause
  12. May have been--I am not sure of the snowfall totals relative to normal. But if you are raised on that, that is your reality and frame of reference. Anyway, on to the rest of fall
  13. For those of us who remember the 1970's and 1980's. Snow was rare on LI
  14. once every 10-15 years is reasonable. Do we need or want one like that every year?
  15. I think people use the word torch incorrectly. I like for a torch, relative to normal. 45-50 degrees is fine for the winter. What I don't care for much anymore is the 15 degree days with a bone chilling wind. Snow used to melt within a week. For those who want deep winters, this is not the area for you---especially if you are near the coast--we don't live in Maine.
  16. It’s not a question of boring, nor is it easy to move. Simply a request for a mild winter
  17. A beautiful stretch of weather coming up
  18. I respectfully disagree---can we have today's weather every day until May? Then transition to summer?
  19. Wow. I’m not far from you (Melville) and it’s 52 here
  20. Great “winter”. Great Storm. Never witnessed all day snow like that. 1996 was at night
  21. For January, February and March as well please
  22. Not too far from you and agree with your statement. This month does not stand out as being cold
  23. I said nothing about geopolitics or worsening of any economy.
  24. Precisely. A warm winter for the USA and abroad would be welcome. A warm snowless winter would be helpful to a lot of people
  25. Let’s put this on repeat until April!
