  1. I’m fishing on Wednesday. I might try some for bait if I can find any around here.
  2. I’m hoping for about .75” to help keep the grass actively growing into May. All my seed from the fall and some sod in early spring has filled in and is looking great. I just need to keep it watered into June to survive the heat of summer.
  3. Man, that looks really good. Are pizzas a permanent menu item at the brewery?
  4. Just below freezing with some rooftop frost.
  5. Totally natural too, I believe. https://pubs.usgs.gov/of/2000/of00-263/of00-263.pdf
  6. Happy Houring with a couple of friends and sharing yesterday’s wares from the distillery in Sperryville.
  7. @jonjon How's the breadery coming along? I'm looking forward to checking it out this summer (If you're able to get it up and going by then).
  8. Thanks. It was an awesome day. I've done Old Rag many times and it never gets old or boring, though I like to get out early before the crowds. And no, I don't think that's snow. It was still earlier in the day before the cold air really arrived. There was some haze or smoke in the area that made for some great photos. I'm just guessing but I'll bet it's the the same hike you've done because it's so popular. There are a few sections that you have to wriggle your way through including this one. I'm not sure about this, but I think that rock that's pictured fell (or got pushed) and got wedged during my lifetime. I need to go back and look at my old prints from when I was a teenager!
  9. Anyone in the Frederick area seeing any snow this morning?
  10. Got a good hike in on Old Rag today. Pretty windy and got chilly towards the end, but a much better day than I had anticipated. They’ve opened the new parking area and made a trail spur to keep people from walking on the narrow road. Finished the hike by stopping in at Copper Fox where they had a fire going in the wood stove and plenty of warming spirits.
  11. I’m not ashamed to admit that I woke up a couple of times during the night and thought that something was running over the tent. It’s off and on roaring now.
  12. I’m camping at Big Meadows tonight and the wind is already really gusty. Should be ripping hood from the south in the morning pre cold front. We are hoping to get a hike in before the front, But it may be a brewery and distillery day.
  13. Don’t ask questions. Just eat your bread and look forward to Ringling Bros at the armory in May.
  14. I’ve been living under a rock for so long.
  15. You should be tired from putting up the good fight today. I did an easy bike ride, worked in the yard for a few hours, a trip to the dump, and then my gf treated me to a lobster roll at a new place in Stevenson on the way home. Having a little white wine with the seafood.
  16. Uh, oh. Here they come! This is from my brother in Olney this morning. eta that he also said that this ground was under an upside down wheel barrow all winter, so probably why it’s a little early. Poor dude. 17 years of waiting and no one else to party with.
  17. I’d rather watch spinning cyclones than listen to people squabble over cloth.
  18. I’ve been there a couple of times. Nice spot. @Scraff is their distributor.
  19. Copper Fox Distillery in Sperryville is a must. There’s a brewery in the basement of a B & B called Hopkins that’s decent, and a couple others I haven’t been to (Pen Druid and Hawksbill). There are also some vineyards in the area around Old Rag that are nice if you end up hiking that way. I’m heading down that way next week so if I check out Pen Druid or Hawksbill, I’ll let you know.
  20. Yes, I looked it up and it’s treated as a runner reached on an error, but it does hurt the won lost record though. I like your idea better than the immediate runner on second.
