  1. Had a couple very brief lake effect sprinkles yesterday.
  2. 2 90 degree days during June and none in July at GRR so far this year.
  3. 2nd wettest June ever in GRR. After the especially dry start that was a pretty impressive comeback.
  4. GRR just went above normal for the month with yesterday's rainfall. Drought concerns may quickly turn to flooding if this continues.
  5. @frostfern GRR is going to make you happy with mention of a warm front The sfc front is expected to move southeast of Lower Michigan on Sunday in the wake of the low passage. There is uncertainty on how long it takes to return north as a warm front, but eventually it does and more heavy rain becomes possible later in the week.
  6. The weekly drought monitor is going to look a little different this week and next.
  7. GRR just had two days in a row with a high of 69 which is very uncommon for this time of the year. In the GRR afternoon AFD on Monday they had this interesting little comment - At Grand Rapids, at this time of year having a day with a high in the 60s happens only 7 years in 100, so this is a very low Frequency event if it does actually happen.
  8. Michigan just went from not reporting on Sunday to not reporting on Saturday or Sunday. Seems to be the trend for sure.
  9. 1.33" this morning ought to keep up from moving to D3 next week.
  10. Speaking of 100, how about this how forecast out west. https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=36.2466&lon=-116.817#.YMeIYDpE3mE
  11. Don't like the way that D2 is becoming more widespread.
  12. Came home around 10:30 last night and saw lightning to the SSE. When I went in and looked at the radar the closest rain was near Fort Wayne which is about 125 miles away as the crow flies.
  13. Have you ever seen one of those in person. They look pretty intimidating.
  14. 0.11" total here. I heard parts of Allegan County got over 2".
  15. That is Beavis weather right there
  16. Michigan checking in with "only" 549 cases today. A huge improvement over past weeks/months.
  17. Alternatives to wxweb.meteostar.com/sample - Weather Forecasting and Discussion - American Weather (americanwx.com)
  18. Obviously referring to a statewide event but up until last night this was true - “Chris Vagasky, meteorologist with Vaisala, was able to mine the lightning data for us, and show us exactly when our last widespread thunderstorm day was for Michiganders. It’s been 311 days since all of Michigan had a significant thunderstorm day.”
  19. Waiting for @frostfern to respond, but it finally rained in the GRR area. I am at 1.02" and still some light rain in the area. Not sure there is a drop of water standing anywhere though. It all soaked in pretty quickly.
  20. Let's revisit this map on Saturday and look at actual rainfall. I am guessing it will not look anything like what is shown.
  21. That Chicago to Grand Rapids line has been a dry patch for sure. Even the State of Michigan, you can almost draw a line at the Indiana boundary. Nearly 80% of Michigan is in D0 or greater. Not a good look for summer. Hopefully we can score something soon.
  22. I hope you are wrong. My strawberries and blueberries seem to have survived the multiple frosts and my garden is in . Looking at getting a better watering setup in case the drought conditions continue or worsen over the summer.
  23. Michigan to follow CDC guidance, no masks indoors for vaccinated people; full mask mandate to end July 1 - mlive.com Great news, especially for those too you to get a vaccine. It would be kind of odd for a family to have the adults and 1 older kid without a mask and all the rest of their younger kids still forced to wear a mask.
  24. I might be a skeptic, but I'll believe it when I see it.
  25. 0.06" here today. Not getting rid of the D0/D1 in our area that way. On a slightly more positive note, GFS keeps hinting at wetter weather. Will it materialize?
