  1. I am returning to Randolph on the 30th. Factor that into any snow forecasts. LOL
  2. Since I will not be there all the time in the winter I planned to just defer to the CoCoRaHS guy up the road and add my local take when I am there.
  3. Yeah, it kinda rattled her cage a little that the leaves changed seemingly overnight and then promptly fell off the trees. Then it rained a ton, then it snowed. LOL A great intro to the North Country.
  4. Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to convince my wife that the fall colors up there aren’t usually so early and don’t last only a day. LOL
  5. Everyone has different levels of risk they will tolerate and people handle this tradeoff between safety and convenience differently. There is no one-size-fits-all solution.
  6. As long as people stay out of the lodges as much as possible, skiing should be one of those activities that can proceed close to normally even with COVID. Everyone wants to be socially-distanced while skiing even without a pandemic going on.
  7. I am pretty certain we will look back in a few years once the political aspects of this have cooled off and the general consensus will be COVID wasn't worth destroying our economy and financial health over. Just my two cents.
  8. That's very true. I am not trying to work at a physical office or retail location in NH, it's probably a different story for those folks. I also know I'm in a fairly off the beaten path area. We do notice a little bit more of a "heightened awareness" of COVID when we are in North Conway, for example. We have been chalking that up to the large numbers of tourists from Mass kinda bringing that vibe with them however. It does seem like VT has chosen to go on one end of the COVID safety spectrum, whereas some states like FL have been far at the other end. I've been into VT a few times for various things and it does seem like just anecdotally more things are shut down and restricted there than in NH. That said, I haven't seen any hostility from anyone, but as noted before I am pretty oblivious to all that and couldn't care less anyway, as long as I am following the rules.
  9. It’s kinda crazy, my experience so far in NH has been completely different from you guys in VT. It’s like COVID doesn’t even exist here. Just need to wear a mask occasionally and briefly in certain spots.
  10. I'm sure a great many wife beaters and generally shitty people smoke marijuana on a regular basis. I wouldn't make the leap that marijuana users are all just happy-go-lucky stoners.
  11. I'm afraid property taxes will be going up in many places, correlated pretty strongly to the states and municipalities with the biggest budget shortfalls and most draconian lockdowns. It will only make things worse in the long run for these areas.
  12. The Ravens have a lot of issues. The league is all screwed up this year so they have a very good chance to get to the playoffs and even be a high seed, but they are deeply flawed and Lamar has been pretty pedestrian (heavily curated highlight reel from the local homer media aside). I see nothing here that tells me this team can beat KC yet, or Seattle (as the top of the NFC -- the rest of the NFC looks pretty bad). I am also worried about the Steelers and Titans. I think they can beat anyone else this year. The two games against the Steelers will be telling. They need to put those guys to bed. I sense they will split or possibly lose both, however. This team seems to be sleepwalking a bit.
  13. Amazing turnaround in the North Country for sure.
  14. I plan to give you tons of dirty looks in NH this winter. Brace yourself. My disapproving gaze will shame you at every turn. I may even go on the closed Randolph Facebook chat group and say mean things about you.
  15. I was mostly posting in jest. I personally don't find it too likely out-of-state cars are being vandalized and people are regularly being confronted, but I realize some people have a different definition of a confrontation and may be bothered by nasty looks and the like. It is also 2020 so I guess I can't rule out windows getting smashed over license plates. I just ignore all that stuff, especially if it's just some old local granny smirking at me. LOL
  16. This issue must be localized to VT. I have had zero issues in NH and I stick out like a sore thumb amongst the locals there. Everyone seems really glad to see me. LOL
  17. That quote literally looks like a couple of Karens. Just saying. Don’t seem like the car vandalizing type.
  18. VT sounds like a rough place. Confrontations and vandalism at the ski resorts? Sheesh @powderfreak chill bro.
  19. Got down to 28. Still snow covered on the northern exposure. The southern exposure is pretty much wiped out as I expected since it gets full sun. FWIW, final snow total from CoCoRaHS guy was 3.9”
  20. Ok I haven’t ventured up that way yet. A guy in Berlin told me it’s really remote up there. Very few people and pretty run down. This was a guy who lives in a double-wide in Berlin saying this mind you. LOL
  21. Oh yeah, that’s a weenie rule for sure. Almost as certain as the snowblower rule. LOL
  22. How does an area like Pittsburg do in typical winters? I have looked at some data and it seems like they miss most of the upslope?
