There are people out there who have barely left their homes in 6 months and watch cable news/read social media 24/7. They are gripped with fear and also angry. They are REALLY on edge right now... hope they stay calm on election night, no matter what happens.

My low last night was 18. Lowest since I have been here. Pretty decent with no snow cover in my crappy radiator spot. I'm guessing Alex was single digits? LOL

12z RGEM is an absolute mauling here. Over a foot. I am pretty close to Canada so I figure the RGEM should be pretty accurate... right? LOL

12Z NAM really wants to push some snow from the coastal back over northern NH. I think that's a money setup for Randolph.

Getting the flu vaccine this year just makes good sense (even more so than usual). I figured why risk adding flu to what’s already out there.

October has already been better than a great number of MD winters! Hopefully this setup delivers for a few inches. Need to keep pace with SNE. LOL

RGEM, GFS, and GGEM all show a nice snowfall here. Kind of a convoluted setup now with a low bombing out off the coast of Maine. Some of the runs really toss back some moisture from that. NAM seems to miss with that but drives in some upslope snow the entire time for more modest totals.

A new wildcard here is that the NAM wants to blow up that system in the Gulf of Maine and toss some precip back on the area as well.

Yeah, last couple runs have tried to wrap some backlash snows into my backyard.

That mentality has led to a lot of unnecessary deaths and worsening of treatable diseases for some people. People need to go to the hospital if needed. COVID fear is so unhelpful on multiple levels.

Italian hospitals are almost totally overrun every single year during flu season. There are many articles about it from previous years. Clearly some folks think mostly empty hospitals are the norm. No clue why they think that makes sense from a business perspective. Doctors and nurses get paid when they see patients.

People go to the hospital with high fevers all the time. It isn’t a social visit, I never argued that. Solid fear-mongering here. Yeah, if you have a heart attack in Texas you will die due to lack of care. Spread that fear. We all know how you voted...

Are the hospitalizations far less serious, however? People go to the hospital with fevers in the fall and winter a lot and it doesn’t make the news because they get some fluids/NSAIDs and are then released. Busy ERs are basically hospitals operating as designed.

Sounds like you want more responsible parents and them more involved. I agree. Dumping more money into the schools won’t fix this. We already do that.

12k NAM 12z is much less exciting than the GFS and RGEM. My exact lat/long is always within that blob of enhanced precip over the Whites the models all have. Hope that bodes well for being in the upslope zone. GFS looks best for here right now. We will see what 3k NAM looks like once it is in range. I am assuming the models aren't too great at pinning down upslope amounts? I assume all we can get is a general signal.

I recorded 7" of rain this month so far. The local observer recorded 7.30" so pretty good agreement. Drought busted IMBY at least.

Good morning from Randolph, NH!

Oh yeah, it is snowing again. Glad Alex reminded me to check. LOL

This was my first time here in Randolph with it snowing (I was in MD for the past two weeks and missed the other events). I quickly drove around as we changed over to snow, and I can say I observed firsthand some of the factors that posters such as @ORH_wxman @dendrite and @alex told me about the area. For example, the precip rapidly faded and mixed mostly back to rain as I headed west on 2 towards Lancaster. It was a noticeable drop-off just outside Randolph. Jefferson is the dividing area. The snow was coming down well at my house, but as I drove into Gorham it quickly turned to rain and then further up 16 the precip basically ended totally. Dry air clearly affecting that area. I feel like in Berlin they may have seen stars or just high clouds. Any snow weenies living in Berlin must be miserable knowing what is just up the hill... The radar was really fun to watch. The snow area on the radar started as a circle over Mt Adams/Madison and then as the snow line lowered the circle grew, and once it encompassed my house we switched to snow pretty soon afterwards. I thought that was pretty helpful and more accurate than I expected. This was on the MyRadar app on iPhone, BTW. Anyway, it was just one super-marginal event, but I thought this was neat to see. I am excited to see an upslope pattern early next week to see how Randolph does. I feel pretty good about my chances, but of course these snow shower patterns can be about luck sometimes too.

Surprised you never mixed with snow at least. This whole thing was super marginal for sure.
