LOL that's a very generous offer, but I think CT would be better off if I shipped them some muddy ground and snowmelt runoff to ease the drought at this point!

I believe someone here said the Pinkham Notch numbers are a little unreliable because there are a lot of missing reports, especially during the shoulder seasons. You can read the detailed comments from the Randolph observer each day. There are very, very few missing days and he/she seems really into taking obs.

Yeah, I figured I will get a winter under my belt and then see if I can tackle it myself. I just have no basis for what to expect this winter.

They said they are there every day in some patterns. I guess if I leave to much snow the lower layer freezes solid and slick and becomes really hard to remove.

We have a hot water fuel oil boiler system. Hopefully it will be decently efficient, but yeah we are expecting a big bill.

Yeah, he said that he tries to maneuver the snow and stay on top of it so that doesn't happen. Apparently they did need to bring in front loaders a few times in the past when they had nowhere else to put the snow. We will see how it goes this winter, obviously I have never dealt with anything remotely like this.

About $80 a plow is what the guy says he charges. I have no way to know if that is a good price or not... It's a solid quarter mile of driveway with a loop and a big open area that needs to be cleared. Seemed reasonable.

Imagine being a snow weenie who just bought a house at 1,500 ft on Dalton Ridge and you log in here to see @ORH_wxman calling it a total pit. haha

@ORH_wxman saved me from buying 30 acres in the middle of the woods in Whitefield. Dodged a bullet there as a snow weenie. I would have been sick reading this forum.

Looks like it is around 1400 ft or so if it’s on Dalton Ridge. Good view if you can avoid the snow hole for sure.

The local guy up here who works on my house said that the Town and Country Inn in Shelburne is your best bet. That endorsement may be a bad thing or a good thing. There are some really rustic folks up here and standards may be different... I stayed at Carlsons Lodge in Carroll about 15 years ago. It was fine but can’t speak to quality now. It looks well kept from the outside.
