I'm gonna go ahead and say...whatever happens will be the opposite of what we need. Pretty confident in that call based on...(waves hands around) - everything that has transpired with regard to snow chances up this way for about 8 years now. No matter what it is, it is bad for us. This time the storms will be too strong. Another time the cutter would not be strong enough. Another time they would be just right but a rogue shortwave would appear because a butterfly farted in new mexico in august to mess it up. Etc. Etc.
A co-worker - "Man, it's chilly out there"
Me double-checking temp - "It's 48 degrees friend, ON JANUARY 8TH"
Maybe it's chilly for Birmingham, AL. Maybe. This whole area is being de-conditioned to...actual winter.
I look forward to/dream of getting enough winter weather at some point that the panic thread isn't one of the first threads I see when I open the forum..
These last several winters we have been living a real life choose your own adventure book where no matter what option is chosen when you flip to page corresponding to your choice it is rain. Or cold/dry. I don’t even think the snow outcomes exist in the current choose your own adventure book we are reading.
37 and fog on my drive up to perryville the slower but non-toll way up US 1 for a poker tournament . The rivers and creeks were all running full after yesterday’s rains.
12/7/23: T (maybe a T on 12/6/23 too but I was not home to see it/verify it)
12.11.23: .8
1/6/24: T (two hours of winter storm watch - yay! - rapidly converted to winter weather advisory - still ok... - then -- a little sleet and snow and a LOT of rain...sigh)
Season total - .8
(already four times my snow from last year LOL)
Having a hard time cherishing it, Millville...it has been really disappointing for quite a long time now up this way. This is yet another kick in the nethers. Can't even get pity snow to fall just to give the illusion of snow anymore. And I live in the Hereford Zone now.
Glad you are feeling better.
The hike was fine. Almost eight miles. It never really snowed. Sleet for awhile and ended in rain. And I was technically over where the winter storm warning was…
what a crappy system. I give it an F-.
What a shocking drive over to my hiking group hike for the day - 7.5 mile planned hike north of 70 off route 29.
was 28 when I left monkton - good.
was up to 31 by fairgrounds exit off 83 - eh
was at 32 where beltway and 83 meet - oh no
up to frickin’ 34 on beltway around reisterstown rd and held that with some rain over to 70- YIKES
temp dropped a bit on final set of turns to the trailhead - 31 over here. Better?
I was REALLY hoping that some of this walk would be in falling snow. I guess I can still hope i suppose.
Disheartening start to things tho.
I am following the Arkansas updates closely because almost time to start compiling the now annual list of places with more snow than our area on the season...
