  1. Someone needs to tell Will he hasn't made it. Seriously. For all of us.
  2. 7 mile hike today along the gunpowder trail system off us 1 - joining the Mountain Club of Maryland was best $20 I’ve spent in quite awhile. Foggy start but generally pleasant once it got going.
  3. Simple 8 1/2 drive from baltimore to Barrie, Canada several hours north of Toronto and one can see snow fall.
  4. Huh. We have gotten below 25 a bunch up my way to date so it FEELS colder than I recall it being last year to date. Or maybe my memory is shit. Coin flip, really.
  5. 26. was 21 yesterday. It probably doesn't mean much, but to my eye and memory it has been WAY easier to get cold earlier this year than at this time last year. Hopefully we can get some precip to settle in at some point during the cold.
  6. EJ said in long range thread - Given that my snowfall total last year was .2 .... yeah, 2 inches would seem amazing.
  7. I get it but...it has been a LONG time since we've had an actual clipper and those used to be a way to get some small scores. Given I was literally .2 last year in northern maryland, it would be nice to see actual accumulating snow from any kind of system.
  8. That's the clipper that various model runs have hinted at. I think there is no southern stream on this potential system because...it's a throwback clipper? Would be nice if that is a thing so we can get on the board.
  9. Man do I have good news for everyone - I checked the historical records and when there is a pre-dawn snow shower on Nov. 28 at @nw baltimore wx 's house that amounts to a grill topper the beltways average 88 inches of snow in the following months. Winter saved.
  10. Just took dogs out - no evidence of flurries at my place in monkton. Maybe someone in towson area saw something fall?
  11. oh god. and it has been so level-headed up to now, too...
  12. co-sign. It really makes it so much worse from people who should know better.
  13. - three of the worst snowfall seasons in the beltway regions have occurred since 2011 and many of us have been posting together in that timespan on this very forum - maybe that explains the generalized snow angst (on top of the obvious thrist for snow given how historically awful last year was...)
  14. Ok, here's the naughty list - we should be safe from adding to it this year. Probably. BWI: .2 - 2022/23 .7 - '49/'50 1.2 - '72/'73 1.8 - 2011/12 1.8 - 2019/20 DCA .1 - '97/'98 .1 - '72/'73 .4 - 2022/23 .6 - 2019/20 2.0 - 2011/12 Dulles: .4 - 2022/23 2.2 - '72/'73 2.6 - 2001/02 2.9 - 2019/20 3.7 - 2011/12
  15. BWI: 9.2" DCA: 4.3" IAD: 12.9" RIC: 7.5" Tiebreaker: SBY: 4.5"
  16. It wouldn't be as bad as it is in the long range thread if people would stop trolling. Control maps from 1100 hours out of context etc. Drive by comments with literally nothing to add other than to complain. the ratio of shit posts to quality posts is way out of whack. I would almost lock that thread so that only about six posters could post in it. Or maybe see if randy will allow the mods to nuke the trolling shit straight to hell, that would help too. It also didn't help that mt psu made everyone care about his backyard for early snowfall and ratcheted up the anxiety level.
  17. Re: my post in obs thread / the hike ended up being 9 miles - almost 1000 feet of elevation gain throughout the stroll - glad I have been building up to that…otherwise - bad things. And most everyone else in the hiking group was super experienced- was glad to hold my own. Four and a half hours and 24,500 steps. Not my usual weekend activity. But healthier (unless my heart gives out…)
  18. Joined the Mountain Club of maryland and am looking forward to many hikes this upcoming year. First one today / through Cromwell bridge park/loch raven - 8.5 miles starting with a group at 9:00. Currently 30 degrees, which is better than the 24 when I took the dogs for a short hike at 6:30 am.
