  1. my understanding is it is an ob recorded in F, then converted to C, then converted back to F for display. So 89.6 -> 32C, could be 89 or 90 I guess?
  2. yeah if we can maintain clear skies till 5-6pm, we might be able to do it.
  3. it's the damn (light) wind
  4. yeah this is what is having me worried - if we don't get the slight break this weekend from the coastal low, we're talking weeks of 90s+
  5. looking at the Euro, basically looks like wall-to-wall 90s. We could be getting close to record territory if this goes into next week.
  6. yeah, the dewpt here briefly hit 78 but the wind must've switched as it's now back in the mid 70s. Still oppressive as the temp is in the mid 90s.
  7. it's not just the 90s during the day, we've been mid-upper 70s for lows for a while now. Last night only got down to 78. I'm sure if this continues we'll get some 80+ lows, as they are routine every summer now.
  8. 42F in downtown DC - wtf
  9. the corresponding ward in DC that is on that border (ward 4) has the most cases in DC. Which is odd because in DC that is one of the less dense wards. Wards 1 and 2, which are downtown and just north of there (Columbia Heights etc) actually don't have as many cases relative to the entire city.
  10. mid 50s at 11pm in mid Feb - cool cool cool, totally cool
  11. I saw mentions of March 2001 storm in this thread - it was my understanding that bringing up that cursed storm was a bannable offense?
  12. the unvarnished realism in this subforum is such a pleasant change from the NYC forum
  13. we've switched over to snow in downtown DC!
  14. it's been showing 37C (98.6F) on mesowest for a few obs now, we probably hit 99.
  15. 90 in between obs at DCA - tack on another one.
  16. 40F at Summit - top of the Greenland Ice Sheet. JFC
  17. DCA being the cool spot basically this entire heat wave is kinda suspect imo
  18. i mean literally everywhere around it is 100-102
  19. 101 again here in west end / foggy bottom - heat index has been hanging in the 113-115 range - brutal
  20. where do you get the 1 min obs?
  21. DCA hit 98 at 1pm - we'll see how they go from here.
  22. storm basically died as it moved over the District - dropped me down a few degrees to 87 with some sprinkles, DCA looks like it wasn't really affected - 91 at 10pm.
  23. got to 101 in west end did anyone notice the quick drop to 84 in the 3pm hour (3:45 i believe) at DCA? Is something up with their sensor (they've also been running a couple degrees cooler than most of the PWSs in Arlington and the District just across the river)
