  1. A week straight of caked trees. My kind of November. My son today told me “our house is really like a winter wonderland.” I think there’s a weenie in the making…
  2. It’s been several days of caked trees. Gorgeous landscape.
  3. Haha I've stopped keeping track. It's too much work lol
  4. Forecast said snow ending by 10 and it got much heavier right around then lol
  5. An inch or two with steady snow and 27F. One weird thing though is that the ground below the snow is completely unfrozen. You can dig under the snow and find mud (and my stake turned into the leaning tower of Pisa with the weight of the freezing rain last night). Need some serious cold to get through the snow cover and make the ground freeze
  6. Great shot! Was much crummier here today.
  7. Get a place, rent it out when not using it and it can pretty much pay for itself. are you thinking condo or home? Happy to advise!
  8. Went up to 32.2 but started snowing. Cold air coming in aloft?
  9. Surprised to see we are still below freezing here. Some freezing rain overnight but nothing falling at the moment.
  10. Started as sleet and freezing rain here. 25.7F. Let’s get to the other side of this BS so we can get back into an upslope flow
  11. This is some very strange stats. Not sure you can draw any meaningful conclusion at all from that. At the very least you’d want to add non-snowy falls and what happened in the following winters. Otherwise all you can see is that 1980-2023 has had less snowy winters after a snowy fall - but could also be that all winters in the first stretch were snowy and none in the second were, aka - there is zero correlation between fall and winter
  12. This is true. Even when I lived in Mass in the”winters of yore” we didn’t really have any meaningful snow until December. Hell, significant November snow is not that common even up here if you go to lower elevations like North Conway or Littleton. I think it’s nice to see the progression, anecdotally it bodes well for winter, but the expectations have to be managed. Chances are even we won’t have a continuous snow pack in the valley, we’ll probably lose it all in an upcoming storm and then rebuild it. Such is life.
  13. I do love palm trees, admittedly. I’ll be in Dominica for Thanksgiving so I’ll get some palm trees no matter what lol
  14. Stake is at 10” after sitting at 5 for several days with compaction. It’s actually pretty hefty stuff, temperature has been at or right below freezing most of the time so it’s not the usual super fluffy stuff. Ski area opens tomorrow!
  15. Must have gotten another 4-5 inches since this afternoon. Relentless. One of the best upslope events in a while.
  16. Enjoy it! Moving to the mountains has been the best decision in my life. Or at least one of the best
