  1. Started snowing again. Upslope flow kicking in?
  2. 32.0 exactly right now, but it was 33.1 at some point earlier, so lots of compaction. Definitely would have been better if it was just a bit colder. Just measured 1.4"
  3. Not a lot of snow but does look nice. And skiing was quite good today.
  4. Light snow, about 1/4” accumulation. This year, that should be a warning event
  5. Lol. Crawford, but close enough. If I had the option the top part of the notch around Willey House would be perfect to build a home. Perfect combination of upslope and retention. Too bad it’s all National Forest lol
  6. Some light snow now in Conway. The Notch definitely looked more wintry. Amazing ability to hold snow under the worst conditions.
  7. In the meantime, first time we see the sun in what feels like ages here!
  8. What happened to the AFDs gradual cooling? Seems to be getting warmer lol and I think they’re having pina coladas on top of Mt Washington
  9. Must be age. I’ve spent many years stressing over every little drop of rain falling in the winter months, whether here or in Mass, so I know the agony.
  10. I definitely have never seen anything like this in my 7 or so years up here. Sure, we’ve had storms wipe out the snowpack but they were generally followed by at least some upslope within a few days. This year just feels like a never ending fall - except for the decent stretch we had in December. I have to admit, I’m not hating it nearly as much as I thought I would. I’ve probably seen over 1000” of snow since moving here, it’s ok if we take a break and I’ve actually enjoyed the skiing more than I often do this time of the year when it’s in the single digits all day - my least favorite part of New England skiing. Give me a few groomers and temps in the upper 30s and I can have a great day out there. Monday was one of those days. But it’ll be nice to have a normal winter again some day. It’s been a while!
  11. In this winter? He probably did melt like every inch of snow we’ve gotten so far Don’t know the details but I guess he’s been banned for some unsavory comments about women and my kind (the gays). Oh well…
  12. Yes it’s that bad. As many have said, much can change in a few weeks but certainly pretty pathetic right now. That said, I just talked to some guests today and they said that they’re still having a blast. Don’t let the weather get you down, there’s still plenty of activities to enjoy out there and you can still ski and have a good time, if it’s not the best.
  13. I mean, this is my backyard on Jan 4 at 1500 feet in NNE. You don’t find that epic???
  14. Sorry to hear. Both my kids have already had fractured bones from skiing, and Diane last year had her ACL issue… skiing definitely has its downsides. It’s a good thing we love it so much! Hope you get back to it soon, even if on easy trails. Being out there is half the enjoyment, no matter what trail you’re on!
  15. Yeah we’ve certainly had meltdowns like this if not worse before. Usually those come alongside long periods of snowy weather- we haven’t had that much of that, but winter has a long way to go.
  16. Today is a perfect example of why people shouldn’t stress out too much about ski conditions in bad patterns - as long as the resort has good grooming. You’d think it’d be as bad as it gets with the weather we had and last nights freeze, but it’s actually very enjoyable. Fast, loose granular with good grip. It helps that there are no crowds. Of course, good grooming is key. I went to Jiminy Peak last year when the weather was pretty decent and the conditions were atrocious. A ski patrol told me “this is New England - it’s how it’s supposed to be.” Yeah, not so much. Just gotta ski the right places!
  17. Getting some flurries/light snow. My kiddo has his first ski race tomorrow... should be some FAST conditions!
  18. At this rate we can soon switch to the allergy season one
  19. Yes! Went out just for a couple of runs because my kids asked me to ski a bit with them after their ski team practice, and I couldn't stop! It just felt so good. Honestly, I wish we could get more days like this, interspersed with lots of snow. Wouldn't that me amazing? My son has is first U10 race on Monday. His coach told me 2 days ago that apparently he's REALLY good and they asked me to get him actual race gear... damn it's an expensive sport. But he loves it and seeing him become so much better than me at age 8 is pretty amazing. Happy New Year everyone!
  20. On more positive topics, jeesus the skiing was amazing today. One of my favorite days. The snow consistency was perfect and being outside in this weather just feels awesome. Sorry you could enjoy it though PF. BUT there will be more.
  21. So sorry to hear that! Get better soon!
  22. Oh and also... Looks like we go from this to suppression lol??? If that happens Im moving to Northern Japan
  23. I really honestly don't remember seeing so many people so sick ever. It's crazy! The daughter of a friend has had a 100+ fever for over a week. Insane. I hope you feel better and that 2023 can bring some health to everyone!
  24. I just posted in the other thread - 33 here, 53 in Twin. It's wild!
  25. There are some wild temperatures around here. 33 at my house, 53 in Twin Mountain 6 miles away
