Question about the WPAC warm pool...how long has it been like this? (that is, being so warm until now)

Quite the light show late last night around 3:30, lol Couldn't hear a ton of rain but definitely a lot of lighting.

Heck yeah!!! And I'm excited about the Ravens this season. What looked like an awful off-season to start turned into one of the greatest we've ever had! EDC signed Lamar and went Super Saiyan on the WR room...which is now, at least on paper, the best one we have ever had. Man if we can stay mostly healthy...something special could happen if it's our time

I didn't even have to read or attempt to understand all this. The basic eye test says it's snowing less, and being too warm more often. The last 8 years have been sobering enough! Like you said...we need to just enjoy what we get, and do NOT dream of more--it will only depress you, lol If what you said is gonna be an increasing reality in the future, think it will get a little easier to take the as time goes along, as we'll start to get used to the new normal, and be basically an extension of the southeast forum! Where they know they'll be warm, probably not snow except by fluke, and have far fewer posters. People kinda ribbed me for calling it that, but I mean...look where we are, folks! Yeah I think the best case scenario is that he won't need TJ surgery. That's a bit of a nightmare because he'd be out for the next year, smh But I have no doubt we'd be able to find another solid option...but it still would suck!

People need to stop being picky about snow cover. IF we get a big one again...folks complaining about that would be the peak of gratefulness. Like seriously? Where's the dummy-smack emoji?? I'll have it on standby...because for anybody to complain if we get a big one, at a time where the atmosphere seems to struggle for every flake, would be beyond absurd!

And people pay for it because they keep believing it? Lol

Goodness gracious what a mess (was hoping it was just rumors, but as the day went on more sources started talking, it seems) And now John Angelos is getting eviscerated all over sports (and it's only getting louder, lol) It is an embarrassment...but at the same time frickin' awesome! Literally nobody agrees with this, and can't believe that it was just this and how petty and small it is!

Layman interjection: Goodness gracious this is a messy and complicated equation...do any of you remember a time when you had so much unknown? So the water vapor favors cooling in the stratosphere, yet the QBO, -NAO could counteract that...yeah my brain is fried, lol But thanks for the write-up @griteater! Now back to lurking (perhaps)...

And then ya wonder whether the fact that this time it was unprecedented water vapor vs. the usual ash, sulfur (or whatever proper term is) will cause a different effect.

HA! Ya know I wasn't even thinking about that, but yes I did! (Although I didn't finish it...stopped with about 3 episodes to go in season 2)

My goodness...last thing we needed was for something like that to possibly make things WARMER. We don't really know what the effect will be, but...if water vapor heats stuff up, not quite sure how it's not a negative for winter. But then again what do I know, lol Atmosphere is complex...

Dag nabbit...I can't imagine this being anything that helps, smh Hopefully it won't be an effect at all, but we'll see...

One year wasn't enough time for that vapor to get into the air past winter? I mean that was Jan 2022...unless water vapor is slower/lingers longer than ash and such? (There a measure if how much of the water vapor is currently lingering?)

Kinda like we have to throw away whatever worked before and just put it in a big unknown...storm by storm. Quite frankly I'm not sure anybody has any business making any prediction now...Isn't this like brand new territory with no reliable analogs?
