  1. So I gather that SSW effects (and the timing of them) widely vary and are usually difficult to predict?
  2. Ah well, sounds like it's time to go on ENSO watch 2023-24, lol Not that we have any certainty that a well-placed mod niño still helps, but regardless I'm still gonna root for it because it kinda feels like a watershed (or in this case snowshed ) moment for what's still possible in our climo.
  3. Americanwx.com Mid-Atlantic Oscars air April 2023! And the nominees are...
  4. Hey sorry Eagles fans--was kinda rooting for you guys. But that slight edge I mentioned earlier that Mahomes has...and there it is! Not to mention...ya just knew a storyline was gonna come of that ankle! To me that made him winning actually MORE likely, lol But Eagles have nothing to hang their head about. They really gave them all they could handle--great, great game!
  5. Neither do I, lol Since the Bengals got the boot I can be almost neutral here But yeah I'm inclined to agree...exprience may win out here. But ya never know!
  6. This is a tough one to predict...my brain says Mahomes has a slight edge, but indeed the Eagles could very well win. Mahomes is well, Mahomes and has more experience on the biggest stage...but the Eagles may have an overall better team. Gonna be a good matchup!
  7. For winters like this one, we oughta get sarcastic shirts made that says "Forever Day 10" or "I live at 384 Hour Street"
  8. Glad to hear that! I'm also glad this is finally something we can live with and it not be as bad when you get it. (Had it back in the summer and it was kinda like a slow-moving cold). Didn't need any meds or anything! Again, Glad you're on the mend--cheers (although I don't drink, lol)
  9. Thread superstition aside...I was wondering why we even bothered making one with such low probability and really nothing else short or LR to track...Not like there would've been any confusion in the main thread, lol
  10. Lol Honestly, I think it oughta depend on just how the winter is going. If it's one where things have just been hostile to snow and there are no other threats or promising LR stuff to track, a thread shouldn't be necessary...But that's just me.
  11. I think folks in the east would be happy with the first 3 Now what must've been a real pain-in-the-butt in the 70s was that back-to-back ninas turned into thr 72-73 super niño which then spurred two more ninas, lol
  12. Now I thought the front was Mid Dec-Jan but...maybe that's subjective?
  13. But yet all of January was warm, wasn't it? Whereas last year and the previous ninas it was also cold...Can ya call two cold weeks in December front loaded? Lol
  14. She goin'!!! I know it won't help for the rest of this winter, I'm just happy to see it go and see things try and set up for next winter. Get the heck outta here! Time and make room for El Niño...(No guarantees, of course, but I just wanna shuffle the ENSO deck again) Now to see if a neutral March bodes well for a solid Niño by Fall...
  15. Ya know, I actually understand for this month. But I don't remember a nina with wall-to-wall SER on steroids. I mean that typical cold on the front end of winter never really came!
  16. Dang that's really the same house?? For crying out loud (I wouldn't even wanna live there, lol). Yeah I play seasonally for two of the schools nearby and was surprised to see them closed! I mean I guess it's out of an abundance of caution and I get that...but I'm wondering if they close again tomorrow if they don't get him? Lol
  17. Ya know, I actually understand for this month. But I don't remember a nina with wall-to-wall SER on steroids. I mean that typical cold on the front end of winter never really came!
  18. Ah...ya know sometimes it's the little things...Mom texted and said they were playing Beethoven's Eroica on 90.9 and I stopped everything and just listened...heck. YES! The Eroica (Beethoven's 3rd symphony for those who don't know )...that development section in the first movement...my goodness. It is one the greatest in all of classical music, seriously. No development section ever went to those heights like ever...pure genius and absolutely epic! I mean so many moment in that movement...and then of course the rest of the symphony (including a incredibly moving double fugue in the 2nd movement that just takes you to anothe place), awesome them and variations in the 4th. In this symphony, musical drama reached places it had not before. I'm telling you: Music was never the same after the Eroica!
  19. With some pizza places, cardboard and crust would be indistinguishable...lol
  20. That's what I'm saying...if prime climo has stop the SER, why the frickle would it be any better in March? Lol And please let me unleash a bit of angst: WHY IS THE SER SO FRICKIN' STRONG THIS YEAR??? *pant, pant* Alright I'm good
