  1. Ah I gotcha. Now I can't remember whether if it was you or somebody that theorized that it's possible that we may get more big hits but less snow overall.
  2. Now see I was under the impression the snow periods were more snow (give 2010-16)...and that since we haven't had a snowy period since we're still not sure, lol Edit: Wait did I miss some sarcasm here?
  3. The snow periods have been getting less snowy?
  4. I think you both may have missed the point of my post. I'm not arguing that here. I just gave those examples in relation to how we see snow itself--not climate change in general! Maybe my psychological post was too unscientific for this thread, lol
  5. Just to be clear I'm not debating about the specifics of PSU's data about the trends and such...MY post was more about our psychological approach to snow in general. And btw notice he said that his stats are NOT predictive, just explaining wheat has happened so far. But again, my post was more about how we are viewing all of this. Change could be permanent, or maybe it isn't. Still need to change the way we look at it!
  6. That was the my first thought when I saw his tweet--he needs a good PSU-style smackdown of data, lol
  7. This. I think we HAVE to start looking at it this way. And eventually I think we're gonna get used to whatever the new reality is (it still stings because it's kinda new). We can continue to enjoy snow when it comes, but I think we gotta stop looking at NOT getting it as some objectively bad thing. Maybe not using terms like "alarming" and "worrying" when it comes to the snow trends...maybe change the way we think about it (and adopt your perspective of snow being just one slice of the pie of things to enjoy). I'm starting to think that, at least for some of us, overtime we've been conditioned to view it as some big negative in life when it actually isn't. Now why this happend I have no clue...but I'm now asking the question: "So we got no snow...Why does that HAVE to be SO bad?" I mean hey, we just went through a historically bad winter and things are uncertain going forward...but we're still okay, ain't we?
  8. The only thing worse is 0.0 inches, man. So being worse than this year is statistically unlikely!
  9. I'm not sure you gotta dance around it any more man. It's hitting us right in the face...Hey I need to find a picture of that dang "Hadley cell" so I can put it on a punching bag...smh It has become an object of meteorological disdain!!! Hadley badley affects cold--BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  10. Question is...what is this gonna look like in a niño? I mean dang of we got a split flow now...
  11. Yeah I mean I don't know if any March has ever salvaged a winter of futility. After skimming through the snow records...I guess March 1942 comes the closest, lol BWI had 4.2 inches (hey look! 4x what we have now! )before that storm.
  12. What about the east-based ninos that weren't super? I though the super niños were the only ones that were overwhelmingly warm? (And two with one big hit, lol)
  13. It really is. Next winter feels like a must-win, lose and you go home playoff game...I mean seriously! Lol There's a lot riding on it in terms of determining where we are, imo
  14. El Niño showing up just a tad late for this year...lol But maybe if it can get the wheels going now we rockin' in 9-10 months? (assuming mod niños still work, of course). Official forecast is neutral going into the summer...
  15. I just can't believe it got THIS bad--so bad we can't even get 1 inch. I mean 140 years of records and we are about to see the lowest! Mercy...can we buy an inch? Lol
  16. I just want us to get a measley inch to avoid the futility record of 0.2", lol I mean even a dang mixed bag could get us that!
  17. Man why did it have to go and do that, lol That ain't even right
  18. I'm telling ya...I'm gonna be such a troll to ANYBODY who complains about it snowing a lot--I don't care how much of a warminista they are, lol
  19. Haha Love this analogy! It's like we purposely tanked all year in order to get it too, lol
  20. That there tells me this season is more of an anomaly...Even if the you know what is getting incrementally warmer, ain't no way the climo just dropped off a cliff THAT fast--that Vermont would be 45 and above average right now.
  21. I know you said your opinions aren't predictive...but when you say that like that...it kinda feels like a "this might be a permanent problem for the future". Now maybe it is; in that case may as well come right out and say it, lolol
  22. In the last words of Beethoven: "Pity, pity...too late!"
  23. Now that I will NEVER do, lol Even if we aren't gonna snow as much, I need my four seasons! Even 40s is still wintery so I hope we can hang on to that, at least.
