  1. Layman interjection: Goodness gracious this is a messy and complicated equation...do any of you remember a time when you had so much unknown? So the water vapor favors cooling in the stratosphere, yet the QBO, -NAO could counteract that...yeah my brain is fried, lol But thanks for the write-up @griteater! Now back to lurking (perhaps)...
  2. And then ya wonder whether the fact that this time it was unprecedented water vapor vs. the usual ash, sulfur (or whatever proper term is) will cause a different effect.
  3. HA! Ya know I wasn't even thinking about that, but yes I did! (Although I didn't finish it...stopped with about 3 episodes to go in season 2)
  4. Hey that's still a great shot! Feels like if you fly into that cloud you enter another realm, lol
  5. My goodness...last thing we needed was for something like that to possibly make things WARMER. We don't really know what the effect will be, but...if water vapor heats stuff up, not quite sure how it's not a negative for winter. But then again what do I know, lol Atmosphere is complex...
  6. Dag nabbit...I can't imagine this being anything that helps, smh Hopefully it won't be an effect at all, but we'll see...
  7. One year wasn't enough time for that vapor to get into the air past winter? I mean that was Jan 2022...unless water vapor is slower/lingers longer than ash and such? (There a measure if how much of the water vapor is currently lingering?)
  8. Kinda like we have to throw away whatever worked before and just put it in a big unknown...storm by storm. Quite frankly I'm not sure anybody has any business making any prediction now...Isn't this like brand new territory with no reliable analogs?
  9. And I don't get that...aren't upgrades supposed make stuff, well...better? Lol Why do some model upgrades seem to make things worse?
  10. Forecasters really can't win...like literally there will be complaints either way, lol Been like that for years, haha For some reason some can't seem to grasp the inherent unpredictability of weather!
  11. Phew...They FINALLY did it! know he had to be wondering how much more he had to do, lol I sure would like to know why it took this long!
  12. Yeah that's no bueno (why a certain poster in the other thread seems to want that so much is beyond me...I don't get it, lol) How was 2015-16 oriented?
  13. Winter predictions will probably be...a really bad idea this year, lol
  14. Why are they being enhanced, though? (My apologies if this has been discussed at length already)
  15. Wooowee a soaking here in Balt. City/Towson. A bit of deluge actually!
  16. Yeah that thing was wack, lol Now as of now it seems like predictions are leaning more on the stronger end of things... Now I try not to ask TOO many questions in here, but I am wondering about this WPAC warm pool you all have been talking about. Are there any links to explain what it is and how it's been influencing things?
  17. Now that nino was weak and rather uncounted, right? Did that have to do with forcing as well?
  18. Whoa...looks like we've got a haze craze Hey, this might be the most exciting "weather" we've had here in years...lol
  19. First question that popped intp my brain (shocking I know)! Well 86-87 was pretty good I think that was a moderate niño. 69-70 was weak...still got to 21" though (of course that same setup may not get there today...but that's another convo of course). Interestingly, on the flip side, the winters following the wetter years were mediocre (I remember that being my gripe in 2018 where it rained practically every weekend, lol)
  20. I haven't gotten it Tok yet, but YES bro--take your time with BOTW. That world is so vast it's ridiculous. With the pace at which I play video games now, I got a solid two years out of that game--and enjoyed every minute of it! I mean BOTW may be the greatest game I've ever played. And the environment was so realistic that you think for a second you're in the real world! I'm currently playing Crash 4 (don't judge me, lol)--as soon as I finish that I'm jumping into Tok--can't wait!!
  21. I mean...there's really only one person here that's stoking this, and I really wish they'd just chill. I think that person wants it so much they're hawking the idea with heavy bias...and it's making the thread harder to read!
  22. Yes that's why I said "We that are old enough to remember"! Like ya said a while back...be thankful. I do think your generation (dang that feels weird saying that since I'm only early 30s, lol) will see something eventually. There's enough chaos in weather that, even if things are indeed getting more difficult, we could luck into something one of these years. Don't give up on it entirely
