Lol Like the other dude said--compassion. A response with nothing more than a blank insult--those usually get nowhere. I know not everybody is wired to respond with understanding--but those that know the feeling know the feeling. If you've never had to deal with it you're blessed. Do I gotta handle it better? Absolutely. We're all learning and growing.

Btw I NEVER said anything about anybody posting snow pics. If I ever implied that I apologize. And I am by no means "petty". Yeah I get jealous (which I'm sure NOBODY here ever does) Many understand the feeling, and I'm thankful for those that actually get it. It is hard to control and takes awhile to master. Not everybody has compassion but some do. Will try to do better. Also btw: If ya noticed I actually enjoyed some of those pictures!! (especially the coveted Christmas decorations!)

I thank you for both of your posts--and for your understanding answer. You are right: I can't dampen somebody else's joy with my own misery. That wasn't right and I do apologize for that. And you're right--this is a passion that gets VERY unhealthy. It's an emotional force difficult to rein in. Will work on a better way to harness it.

So option 1...when you say they miss each other, would that mean the the ns was moving faster? Kinda wondering what clues to look for over the next few days if there are any.

Now am I imagining things or are we seeing the southern stream wake up just a tad? (even if it's temporary I hope we can take advantage of it!)

I mean...THOSE are predictable (though I still hate hearing about NJ, NY, other northeast places getting it...but that's usually not too close of a call and rarely a forum divider unlike today)

And to show how brutal the cutoff is... Holllllllld up!!! Say WHAT?? That's when you know it was a brutal cut-off--BWI is my closest airport and I measure about 1.5-2 inches. Yes there they measured 6.8! Lolol That is hilarious! FRUSTRATING...but hilarious. I don't think that has ever happened where my own measurement and BWI where miles apart, lol Wow!

After measuring a somewhat paltry 1.5-2"....Turning on Beethoven's 5th and vigorously (and angrily) brushing off the cars proved to be quite cathartic. Does look kinda nice though. Here's to more next time!

Self-esteem...hmm. I think if feels more like when your team wins or loses. I'd call it jealousy more so than self-esteem (since we have zero control over the weather, no like we ourselves fail--it just feels like losing). But either way your point stands--it ain't healthy!

Though I'm 30 I have no wife/kids--not a ton to worry about, lol

.......I don't know. Let me check with my subconscious... Maybe the 5 feels more significant. That it feels like being trolled to get 4.8"...lol Like a "no warning snow for you!" But in reality I guess I'm looking for the 6-8 incher again (because getting over 5" usually means you're closer to that). That snow that's moderate yet has a bit of a "punch" It's just that my yard has been lacking that and pretty much just missing it several times the last 6 years--and that's frustrating. The other part of it is missing those snows that have good rates--seems all I've gotten is light to moderate flakes. Gotten a lot of pretty scenery, however...and I've started to enjoy that a little more lately. (In fact if I had no knowledge of what was going on in other parts of the state I'd probably enjoy it more).

Ha...I deserved that--but I gotta admit that was funny. Also funny enough...guess how old I happened to be during the blizzard of '96? Five...lol

While I hate the death iconography...now that the "reaper" is retired I'll vent in here: DISAPPOINTMENT!!!! PAIN!!! That's all the winters have been the last 6 years in my yard--with some exceptions for beautiful scenery and such. One day...ONE day we gotta get a verified WSW again. 6 years oughta be punishment enough.
