  1. The metro area did better than here for that 1/12-13 event in 2019. I finished with just under 7". I think Baltimore got shafted though.
  2. He was probably the worst QB the WFT ever gave 13 starts to. Worse than Heath Shuler and that’s saying something. Pretty sure they could justify the move based on performance.
  3. That was an above-average snowfall season at DCA-BWI-IAD. A really nice winter in western Md. too I measured 45” in the valley near CBE.
  4. Maritime polar air masses crossing the country. Really need a ridge out west to shunt that for awhile and tap into the cP and cA stuff up north. Would be a loaded pattern if we get any PNA assistance with that kind of blocking.
  5. My high of 28 today matched 12/16 for the coldest high temperature here since 2/1/2019.
  6. Temp struggling to get out of the mid-20s today with limited sunshine. It’s been quite a prolonged stretch of cloudy weather the past 10-11 days.
  7. Light snow blowing around at 26 degrees. Merry Christmas !
  8. Temperature is nosediving now. Dropped 7 degrees in the past 20 minutes. Wind gusting to 34 mph from the NW. Precip should be changing to snow soon.
  9. Elkins lost 22 degrees in two hours. Morgantown fell 18 degrees. Davis 17.
  10. 65 at 10:00 p.m.in Harrisburg. 26 and snowing in Pittsburgh.
  11. 1.54” and in the dry slot. Yard is like a wet sponge.
  12. Lots of nearby farmland with standing water in the low spots that typically flood first. Still pouring.
  13. Heaviest rain rates of the day here now. Up to 46 degrees. The remaining patches of snow in the yard are turning into fog. 0.75” so far.
  14. MRB not reporting precip totals this morning. Strange how that always happens with large events.
  15. Last 3 runs of the 12k NAM for QPF at MRB: 06Z - 3.62” 12Z - 2.67” 18Z - 2.98” I’m all in.
  16. Big ring around the moon tonight. 40 degrees with about 80% snow coverage left of 1-2” depth.
  17. I remember that front in 1977 that WinterWxLuvr mentioned. We were under a blizzard warning in Cumberland when they let us out of middle school early. Perplexing as we were boarding the bus in sunny, balmy weather. By the time I got home, the sky was black in the west, like a wall cloud in summer. We ended up with a few inches in the valley but the Appalachians scored big. And the wind was as advertised. Also remember a frontal passage in November 1995 that dropped some accumulating snow behind the front when I was living in College Park. Dramatic temperature drop that day also.
  18. lol I guess if BristowWx is purchasing his prime rib in kg, it changes the equation. But my recipe says 5 minutes per pound.
  19. I take the meat out of the refrigerator and let it sit for up to 2 hours before cooking it, until it reaches room temperature. Then multiply the weight of the cut by 5 to determine how many minutes to cook it at 500 degrees. After that much time, turn the oven off and keep the oven door closed for about another two hours. That should get the internal temperature where you want it for medium-rare.
  20. 06Z 12k NAM has 3.62" of liquid falling tomorrow at MRB. Ends as a dusting of snow. Gotta love the NAM in its wheelhouse. 06Z GFS drops a little over an inch of snow accumulation at the end after an inch of rain.
  21. 12Z GFS has a 20-degree drop in one hour Thursday night. The 12Z NAM has a 22-degree drop. Not sure I have ever seen that with a frontal passage, outside of the mountains.
  22. Hopefully it's got the right idea in the long range.
  23. 06Z NAM says the temperature here falls 22 degrees in one hour from 10:00-11:00 p.m. Christmas Eve.
