  1. 12k gives my yard >0.40" of QPF. 3k gives me <0.10"
  2. The folks at LWX going bullish again:
  3. Just looked at my snowfall records. The past 6 years, March has averaged 9.4" of snow in my yard, with accumulating snow in every one of those six years.
  4. Winds went even higher overnight. MRB with a 66 mph gust, and the Hagerstown CWOP had one 65 mph. An 81 mph gust was reported via Mesonet near Wintergreen in Nelson Co., VA.
  5. MRB gusted to 62 mph earlier this evening. A CWOP station in Hagerstown also recorded a 62 mph gust. My top gust at 10m is 55 mph so far.
  6. The 0.61" of rain that fell here overnight puts me above normal for precip for February. That's the 10th above-normal month in the past 11 months.
  7. I finished with exactly 1.00" liquid. 0.76" was snow (sleet mix at times) and 0.24" was freezing rain.
  8. Just measured ~0.15" ice accretion on tree branches. About the same on top of the snow cover. Pretty cool to break ice sheets off the top of the snow.
  9. Steady light freezing rain at 30.5° is glazing things up nicely here now that the sun is down.
  10. CLI report says DCA recorded 2.6" today. At 16.6" for the season now, there are only 6 winters in the past 31 years with more snowfall than this year at the airport.
  11. I measured a total of 0.76" of liquid from the 5.7" of snow that fell this a.m. That's a ratio of 7.5:1
  12. The thunder snow this morning ranks this one up there with the best < 6" events I have experienced. It wasn't the muffled thunder you sometimes get in winter. It was legit.
  13. 11/15 - 7.4" 12/05 - 0.1" 1/12-13 - 6.8” 1/17-18 - 1.4" 1/19 - 2.0" 1/29 - 0.9" 2/1 - 2.5" 2/10 - 1.3" 2/11- 0.7" 2/20- 5.7" total - 28.8" 109 % of climo !!
  14. SN+ with 1/4 mile visibility. 5.3" on the ground. 7:00 -- 0.5" 8:00 -- 1.3" 9:00 -- 3.2" 10:00 - 4.3" 11:00 - 5.3"
  15. Just had a flash of lightning followed by a loud crash of thunder. eta: more flashes and loud thunder ongoing
  16. Snow began here just before 6:00 a.m. Almost 2" accumulated in the past hour. 7:00 -- 0.5" 8:00 -- 1.3" 9:00 -- 3.2"
  17. Best rates/ lowest visibility of this winter right now. Temp still dropping, down to 27. ETA: house across the street is about 350' from my front door and is barely visible at the moment.
  18. 0.5" for the 7:00 a.m. Cocorahs report. Heavy snow now with 1/4 mile visibility. Back down to 28 degrees.
  19. Spotter in Petersburg, WV already reporting 2" on the ground.
  20. Light snow and a freshening breeze. Temp up to 30.6 from 28 earlier. Should dip back as precip becomes steadier.
  21. Every time someone posts this evening that a model has taken a step back, I go and look at it and my yard is still getting pounded with heavy snow tomorrow morning. HRRR, ICON, NAMs. If I see less than 3" of snow tomorrow it's gonna be quite the bust given what all guidance shows less than 12 hours from onset.
  22. 29/9 with high clouds covering the full moon. LWX mentioning 2" per hour rates here tomorrow morning.
  23. I am pretty proud that I mounted that pole up there with the cups on top 13 years ago and it has withstood every storm and high wind since. But honestly, I am not sure I could do it again if it ever came down. Things aren't as easy as they were when I was younger, especially sloped roofs, lol.
