  1. Was a mix at 5:45 when I went outside to start digging out. Flipped to heavy snow at 6:30 and has not stopped. Ended last night at 8", compacted down to about 6". Fresh inch now on top.
  2. I would have had plows on trucks for starters. The local towns had some plow trucks; the state highways did not. They were sanding. I know, as I drove passed them. The best was the tandom salt truck, brokedown and being towed. I'm not speculating as to the status of the contracts with the companies responsible for the interstates, but the ball was dropped here. The towns in my area at least had early dismissals; could you imagine the outcry if these kids were on buses, as long as we were in cars? As a public employee, do you see the frustration of the tax paying citizenry? Anyway, I just hope more people weren't hurt and that the towns/counties and state learns from this experience. Enjoy the storm.
  3. I don't mean to derail the thread anymore than I did; but this was mismanaged from the state level on down; they own this.
  4. Home in Chester. 90/10 snow/sleet. Temp is steady at 28. 8" on the ground. Roads are a mess. Took 3 hours to get home which normally takes 35. 287 south of route 23 is closed. Fatal accident supposedly. I'd like to see what Gov Murphy has to say for himself; or is he out of the state?
  5. Out this way too. I saw some brine treatment this morning on the major roads. Nothing on the side roads.
  6. 2.5 miles away from the office in 1hr 30 minutes driving. Puking snow. Looks like 4" on the mailbox I'm parked next to. Still 14 miles from home.
  7. Heavy snow. I've traveled 3/4 mile from my office in 40 minuts
  8. Roads are horrific in parsippany. I have been in my truck for 25 minutes and can't get out of the parking lot Ripping snow btw.
  9. At least 2" down at the office in Parsippany; 287 was not great at 2:30 on my way back from Paterson. Wife is reporting multiple inches down (her words: pretty deep, it's no joke here) at home in Chester, with reports of secondary roads closed due to sliding vehicles. NWS upped me 6-8"; all before Thanksgiving!
  10. 28/16 at home in Chester. Point and click going with 6" today.
  11. 28/15...I'm impressed for mid-November. Let's see what tomorrow brings me.
  12. I like the RGEM showing 9" near Stewart, and almost nothing right down the river!
  13. What is the mechanism to verify the CAD? HP in optimal location? Downstream blocking? Some of those 2m temps on the Nam are impressively cold for mid-November.
  14. Trees are 75% defoliated in southwest Morris County. Oaks are brown. Few beech have some clingers, but last weekends wind took care of the majority.
  15. 26...pretty cold for late night dog walks in early/mid November...winter feels like it's coming "early" this year.
  16. 27....I've been below freezing since 9:00..once the wind died down the temps plummeted.
  17. First snow shower out this way. 38 right now. Chilly day with the wind.
  18. The heavier rains have begun. Glad the foliage was great this week; these winds will have a lot of leaves on the ground by Sunday.
  19. Without butchering his theory too much...Siberian snow cover extent portends a significant source of cold air. With the right conditions, a cross-polar flow in the winter months, should help to deliver the goods.
  20. Hit 36 this morning; progged for 31 tomorrow night...
  21. Down to 42; wife kicked the heat on. First time this fall.
