    Not to derail Henri, but disappointing Fred’s remnant moved so far west. The garden was looking for a drink; looks like it’s time to irrigate.

    Dry cold front down here. Was hoping for a shower. Garden is pumping down here. Zucchini/squash/pole beans. I planted tomatoes late, so I’m about a week out. Also the lantern flies are at plague level. Last year they set up shop, this year they are into the black walnut. I’m going to start using sticky traps and mount them to trees.

    Dry cold front? Felt better as the day went on. Side note, lantern flies are at plague level. They are definitely hitting up my black walnut this year.

    76/72. Missed the rain today, but my dad in north east Morris County reported heavy rain/winds around 4:30.

    Banter? I’m all for conservation and best practices but some of these comments are flat out scary and dictatorial. Personally, I err on the side of freedom and liberty in all facets of life. Now back to weather…

    Lantern flies are ridiculous out this way. I’ve cut down the large ailanthus trees, but the new shoots are loaded with the bugs. I despise that plant to begin with due to its stink and proliferous seeding. But, the bugs are now into my black walnut trees more extensively than last year. Other than “stomping them out”, any other successful methods?

    Perfect night to be outside. Light breeze, cloudy less sky, Venus on the horizon, temp 67 currently, supposed to bottom at 50; we will see.

    It’s very possible the heat could verify, but aren’t 10 day runs looked on with disfavor in the winter months? 240hr runs are usually fantasy land.

    Seeing color changes on "sickly" maples down this way as well; also 'burning bush" situated in the BJ's parking lot in Mt. Arlington is well on its way toward the red hues, and I even saw early season golden rod opening down the hill. A bit early, but nothing out of the ordinary.

    Lots of rumbles now, but I think the Flemington cell scoots by to my south East.

    Getting rains now from what looks like the front pushing through. Line of storms goes northeast to Maine it looks like.

    Decent band of rain now, but limited potential compared to points East. Radar estimates show a lot of precip in Madison/Chatham into Montclair; anyone confirm? I would think the Passaic will come up a bit with this.

    Immediate burbs and East for the bulk of the precip it seems. Dry slot here now.

    The lightening is awesome. Line is just south of me. Better than fireworks.

    The back side of the storm is awesome to look at. Mammoth towers to my south and east. Sun is out here but getting rumbles of thunder.

    Just rolled through Chester. Some brief winds, followed by a good drink for the garden. 15-20 minutes in all.
