  1. Is that 5.4 at MMU for Monday? I did not expect that. Could be a big week for us in western Morris County
  2. Forky just tampers the weenies... I am one of them, so I appreciate the reality check.
  3. Still a few mood flakes falling; 1" on the slate patio. Roads were treated; watched them drive by twice. Road crews must be pumped.
  4. With all the doom and gloom aside, its been snowing here for the past 1:30, with accumulation on all surfaces, even the untreated road in front of my house. I will take it.
  5. It stayed at 32 until 11:30 am out here; dropping into the 20s tonight. With the wind, it’s cold. Woodstove is burning some cherry; smells great. The weather is what it is; sometimes I wonder if it wasn’t more enjoyable to track potential with out all of these “indices” telegraphing that winter is over, before it begins. I also have to remind myself that I live in North Jersey and not Vermont (at least until my wife gives me the go ahead to move up to the Green Mts.).
  6. In my experience most storms that track west of the Apps do not portend snow in the immediate tri-state region.
  7. Lots of rain out here. Had some good lightening and thunder continues now. Power surged a few times, but so far so good. Looks like this last line of storms has some poleward movement more so than off the stage right. Not training, but close.
  8. 27 currently. Projected low of 19 tonight; would be first teens of this season. We shall see...
  9. 33 currently. Not sure about the overnight low. Might have touched it.
  10. Wood stove is cranking with some seasoned cherry. Smells great. Supposed to touch 32 tonight, it’ll be close. 47 now. This could be it for the ‘growing season’.
  11. Agreed; just curious. If the month stays warm who knows, maybe it’ll produce a few small ones.
  12. I’m actually hoping that I don’t hit the freezing point (though I live in area which will be very close) as I found a large, late season pumpkin plant growing in the hillside I cleared spring 2019 (dumped old pumpkins for deer last November). Plenty of blossoms open and a few baby pumpkins started. I’m curious to see how long it will make it.
  13. Out since 12:30. Had over 3.5" here. The flooding in long valley thru califon on the south branch of the Raritan was impressive. The water was hitting the bottom of my '03 expedition. I was amazed at people in small sedans trying to get through.
  14. A few minutes late on this, but there was also the fabled "Polar Vortex" of January 2014. I am still dealing with the aftermath (by dealing, I mean thankfully busy) in defending multiple lawsuits arising from slip and falls to property damage claims due to freeze ups and pipe bursts.
  15. Someday, I will get out to the Black Hills. My great-great grandmother is buried out near Lead, South Dakota..she died giving birth to one of my great grand fathers siblings around 1900. They had been living in the area since the 1890s. After her death, my great-great grandfather moved back east to Elizabeth, NJ. His descendants remain in North Jersey. I came across an old photo of them in a conestoga like wagon, simply incredible to me.
