  1. Yeah, I know I've had enough 1-3/2-4 and then wintry mix/slop storms in the past five years.
  2. No idea. I'm sure DC had more precip than us today, but there was precip here. It just seemed like it melted in the middle of the day. Maybe the cloud deck wasn't as thick here because the precip wasn't as heavy and that allowed the mid February sun to do some work?
  3. No ice on the trees at all, but some sleet and freezing rain seemed to start accumulating on the driveway and sidewalk over the past couple hours. Definitely a sheet of ice now.
  4. Yeah I much prefer sleet to freezing rain. I've had a few periods where echoes got heavier and it turned over to a mix of sleet and freezing rain, but been mostly freezing rain. Although, it really just seems like rain. Not upset by it as I'm not a big freezing rain guy, more just perplexed how areas in Southern MD are way icier than here.
  5. I'm so confused. I'm way, way northwest from LaPlata and I'm currently watching what little ice I had on my car windshield melting and sliding off the car. There's literally no ice here.
  6. Might be about that panic room time lol. We had periods that were called the best since the blizzard of 1996 and another two periods that were the brother of snowmaggedon, plus an upcoming period that was supposed to feature 30+ inches of snow and be cold and snowy. Instead, we've gotten several slop storms to total anywhere from 10-15 inches. What a winter.
  7. Just went outside and none of the paved surfaces are icy at all. Just wet. And even the cars, while they have some ice on them, it's not really hard. You can take your hand and easily wipe it away. Pretty surprised. Maybe it's the mid-February sun angle doing its job?
  8. I'm figuring that's why I'm just getting freezing rain here instead of sleet. Super light returns overhead.
  9. 28 and the lightest freezing drizzle. Ground is barely wet.
  10. Pretty sure he retired and started his own blog or weather company.
  11. Yeah, I'm also perplexed by why storms are zipping in and out so quickly. Also super frustrating to see we can't get one of these storms coming out of the gulf to wind up. The temps are fine. How hard is it? Everything is either north and a mixed bag here or sheared out and we get some crumbs if we are lucky.
  12. I-70 seemed to be the literal traintracks the beefy part of the storm followed. Definitely a good amount of yellows on radar right around there last night. Curious what some of the far nothern folks ended up with that had the warning. Seemed like the heaviest ended up just south of them.
  13. That last band looks nice and should give you a shot.
  14. Was about to post the same thing. I don't know how anyone can be sure anything is cutting until it's still showing it like 2 days from the storm actually happening. The storm for Tuesday has shifted hundreds of miles east in a day.
  15. Sounds about right. Just eyeballing, I am somewhere between 4 and 5 here. Actually surprised it wasn't a little more given radar, but I'm guessing the ratio was pretty low and the snow seemed to cut off several hours earlier than modeled. Absolutely beautiful out. A true winter wonderland.
  16. Still chasing the big one. Not sure it's going to happen this year. Got about a month and a half left to see if we can get crushed by a HECS.
  17. Heaviest rates yet. Moderate snow and the streets are almost completely covered. Grass is near covered as well. Probably have about an inch or so on the ground.
  18. NAM looks like a tiny bit of snow for some, to lots of sleet, to possibly back to snow for Saturday. It's trying to give us a snowy day!
  19. Picked up a tiny bit more. Probably moderate snow at this point. Sidewalks are caving, driveway is almost completely white, and now seeing splotches of the street turning white. I feel really good about my chances of seeing the 4-6 I was forecasted for come morning. Probably have 2 or so on the ground by midnight and another 2 or so, if not more, that should fall between midnight and when it wraps up tomorrow mid-morning.
  20. Hardest snow yet. Nice, steady snow. Bordering on moderate. It's trying to completely cave the sidewalks and driveway but they aren't giving it up easily! Not sure when roads will start to cave. They salted the hell out of my neighborhood today.
  21. Still just very light snow but some parts of the driveway and sidewalk are starting to cave. One thing I really like about my new house is my driveway is a little elevated and seems to cave pretty quickly, and my street also seems to cave pretty quickly as well. Not sure if I'm just in some weird cold spot or what.
  22. Snow shower/light snow here. Officially have a car topper. Mulch and grass have a very light dusting on them.
  23. Edit: Nevermind, looks like it was an old map. Shows 3-4 here. If I squint and I'm patient, I can pick up a few flakes falling outside.
  24. For sure. Just saying that it is floating under the radar. Everyone was focused on the mid-December fail. Then everyone was focused on the early Feb fail. And now everyone is focused on tonight's win/fail, depending on your location, and then storms for next week. Hardly anyone seems focused on Saturday.
  25. Wow, very close to a snowstorm on Saturday for my area. Starts as snow and then ice just barely gets far enough NW to get me. Just a small adjustment and 95 and west might have a storm. Would be kinda funny if this ends up being the best snowstorm for the area this winter.
