  1. Most of the accumulation has been on colder surfaces, but the street starting to get coated here now. Pretty good band of snow -- this is looking a little better than expected. Maybe we can pull off an inch and a half on colder surfaces.
  2. Snowing moderately right now with the temp just a shade above freezing at 32.5. Probably just a half inch to an inch on colder surfaces here today, but I'm excited about tomorrow now.
  3. What a pleasant surprise to wake up today to the models looking much better for tomorrow. It now looks as if we could see an advisory level event tomorrow -- probably a few inches.
  4. The temp is falling during the afternoon here as expected. Down to 34 now. Wind feels very cold.
  5. That would be historic. Euro is probably overdoing it since it's very long range, but the cold for the week of the 26th is probably going to be more impressive than what we're going to see next week. And Tuesday the 20th it might struggle to get above 20. Very cold times ahead the next couple weeks. We're having a real winter this year. Hopefully we'll start seeing snowstorms again in late January. The snowy December gives us a good chance to have an above average snowfall season.
  6. It's tough to take any threat seriously if the Euro isn't onboard. Sunday always seemed like a longshot.
  7. Euro is FRIGID in the long range too.
  8. It hit 52 here. Nice to have some warmer weather.
  9. We have to wait to get the cold air back. I know people had pointed to Monday the 12th for the return of cold air, but it doesn't look impressive. Now it looks like 40s next week which is above normal. I think we probably have to wait until closer to the 20th for the return of significant cold air. As others have pointed out, we usually have a good part 2 to winter after a cold/snowy December. I'm optimistic that we'll get a good amount of snow in late January or February after this break from the cold air that we're going to see for a couple weeks. Of course you never know, so we'll keep an eye on next week. We certainly can get lucky in a borderline situation in mid January.
  10. 10 and a half inches of snow here so far this winter. That's solidly above normal snowfall to this point.
  11. Like most I was up late for NYE and slept through the snow squall, but it was nice to wake up to the solid 0.75" coating. Not gonna melt with it being so cold, so I'm going outside now to shovel. Looks as if we're gonna have about a 1 week break from winter starting on Tuesday, but man this has been one heck of a winter so far. Truly cold and snowy for about a month.
  12. Right now it appears that Monday's clipper is going too far north, but still 5 days to go. Hopefully we can get it to trend south so we can see a light accumulation.
  13. But he's always posted here consistently, even during the summer. I thought maybe he decided to take a break from the board for the summer/fall for a change, but now I'm more concerned since he didn't return for the start of the winter. Hopefully he's ok and will return to the board soon. I'll let you guys know if he messages me back.
  14. And usually he posts all year round. This place isn't the same without him. I just sent him a message. Hopefully I'll hear back.
  15. I just got done shoveling and wow, what a job. Very difficult due to the layer of ice under the snow. I had to scrape and scrape so hard with the shovel to get it up. In some spots I had to put salt down to loosen it up before getting it up. A total of only 2 and a half inches here, but it was a very high impact due to the ice. I am going to skip my workout today because I already got it with the shoveling, lol. Hopefully the next winter storm will be all snow for our area.
  16. That's why I told you to look out the window late last night lol. It was odd that you kept calling it over when snow had moved in. Thank goodness for the back end of the storm to at least get our area to a respectable amount, even though it was still an underperformer.
  17. I measured 2.4" here. Not too bad considering how it started out with the sleet and then the dry slot. As I said last night, the back end of this storm with the light to moderate snow saved this event from being a massive bust for our area. At least the long period of light snow overnight got us above 2 inches. It's still isn't over with it snowing lightly out there right now.
  18. I measured 1.6" here. The snow on the back end of this storm prevented it from being a complete disaster, but still a pretty big bust. I thought we'd get at least 4 from this event. Pretty bad that it's a mighty struggle just to get to 2. I see the backbuilding on radar, but it's only very light snow. Definitely time for sleep.
  19. But it's not over. Look out the window and you'll see that it's now snowing. We have a ways to go.
  20. This batch we're getting now is mainly snow, so claims that it would be just sleet for the rest of the night were not correct. It's going to be fairly light though ... we won't even get close to the forecast amounts from early today.
  21. Thankfully it's pure snow here now with this next batch of precip that's moving in. Maybe we can get 3 inches overnight as the latest HRRR is showing? I would guess 2 to 3.
  22. It's a snow/sleet mix here. More snow mixes in when the precip gets heavier. A long way to go so we'll have to see how it plays out. If it's more of a snow/sleet mix then maybe we'll get 3 inches rather than 5 or 6.
  23. I'm doing the same thing. I usually go on Saturday, but pushing it to today because I don't want to go tomorrow after the shoveling and with roads likely being a mess.
  24. Euro looks pretty good. I'm sticking with the 4 to 7 that I called for my area yesterday.
