  1. That's exactly what I did last year when I returned from Thanksgiving just in time for the early December storm. Rescheduled for an earlier flight, and arrived just as the storm was getting good.
  2. Yeah it seems like our heaviest rates will be pretty late at night. Midnight to 3am.
  3. Another improvement is that I don't see much of a coastal front compared to previous runs. Just a stone cold shellacking.
  4. Seems like it, and it's happened over and over again throughout the years. I think Boxing Day 2010 was the most vile example, but there've been so many others.
  5. That's because the low redevelops off the southern Jersey shore, crashing the heights in time for Philly and NYC, and then tracks east towards the benchmark, which is a classic track for the northeast cities.
  6. I agree. Some of those faux snow days have gotten silly, but the real snowstorms are absolutely worthy of a nice day off. I think 2-4 per year would be sufficient.
  7. Yes. I resent anyone who wants to abolish snow days just because we have remote learning. I really hope most of the country learns to follow Jefferson county’s example.
  8. “Sure” is much more ambiguous than “yes”, and sometimes it comes across as disdainful, though I’m sure you didn’t mean it that way. But if there’s a misunderstanding then that can easily escalate.
  9. He wasn’t even that rude. Perhaps he could have given a more straightforward response to mappy’s question than “sure”, but there was no need for her to pick a fight over it. Hopefully they both reconcile because I really don’t wish to see arguments between a mod and a red tagger. Aside from that unfortunate spat, this is usually a very good subforum.
  10. I’d be sad to see you go. I hope you reconsider.
  11. No. Philly is a much better spot for Miller Bs.
  12. Let us know how much you get from the storm... I’m very curious to know. It’s certainly a really tough call since you and my old home are sitting right at the gradient.
  13. Yeah I’m thinking @North Balti Zen should stay the course on his planned trip.
  14. I'm pretty sure that's still snow. Just might not accumulate that well for those few hours. And that's if it doesn't shift back SE.
  15. grrrr.... I'm on the wrong side of that little front. Must be a boundary layer because the sounding otherwise looks good.
  16. Sounds like a very mid-Atlantic mindset. I'm used to thinking in much of the same way for many years considering where I came from.
  17. I'd wait until the 12z GFS and Euro run through before making a cancellation. Or maybe even 18z.
  18. That surface low looks to be right at the benchmark. Perfect track for SNE.
  19. I was just about to mention the 22nd. GFS definitely has the signal and the blocking still appears to be in place.
  20. The NAM appears to be running on schedule, FWIW.
